    Making guitars, suggestions?

    Alright, well I've finally sat down and started working on a long standing idea of mine to make an ork rock band. I always liked the idea and I thought it would be a fun conversion project. That said I've run into a minor snag. I don't know how to go about making the guitars/bass needed for the band. So Far I've worked out the Drummer and vocalist and bot look pretty good (though I need to find a large base for the drum set).

    I've tried carving one out of plasticard with some fairly hideous results. I think the card I hae is too brittle and solid so I might try again with new materials. An alternative would be to try to use Green stuff, however my GS skills aren't as developed as they could be So I'm afraid most of it will just be a waste.

    That said, I'd like some suggestions if at all possible on how to go about making some serious "axes" for my as yet un-named ork band.

    Thanks in advance.

    How about two warhammer 40K choppa-axes cut off from the handle, trim off the bolts, and glue them back to back to form the body of the guitar, then you can plasticard and greenstuff the neck, and head(thin strips of plasticard for the frets) and put some tiny screws(you can get them at a railroad modelling store, or eyeglass shop) for the tuners.

    If this was for a 40K ork army, you could use various stuff like tires, or tau gun drones, or even space marine armor chest pieces for the guitar body to make it look like a bunch of scavanged materials going towards musical instruments.

    Heck, you could even use space marine bodies as the percussion pieces.

    Otherwise, there's musicians with drums, I believe in the WH fantasy sprues.

    yeah, using parts of the ork axes should work fine, and have a little pun

    you could thin the handle or add some card for the fret board, and maybe some thin guitar wire for the wire.

    as theyak said, looted parts should fill in any gaps you have, and be very orky. {goofy}

    alright thanks for the ideas. The drum kit is actually mostly made up of shields, bits of tanks and some cities of death stuff. Looks pretty good right now. The mic was easy (blob of greenstuff on a choppa handle) Alright I'll give the axe "axe" a try and see how it turns out. A friend of mine also suggested using saurus heads (the top anyway) as a base for the guitars. So I may try that as well.

    There are various other sculpting materials that would work for this.

    Personally I would suggest Miliput. Miliput is sandable when hard, so you can give the guitar its basic shape and then afterwards sand it.

    I am sure there are plenty of similar producs on the market.
    Shut up and play.
