My biggest concern with this sort of set up is the beast choice. I doubt I will be too comfortable with only 2, and I'm not even sure I picked the best 2 for the list... Madrak -Bouncer -Pyre Champions Swamp Gobbers Kriel Stone Bearers 4 Kriel Warriors 6 -Caber Thrower -Standard Bearer and Piper Fell Caller Stone Scribe Chronicler 495 point 20 victory points I would be a bit unsure of the list in a steamroller setting without knowing which scenario. I took what I feel are some of the more toolbox beasts to help work towards my overall theme of attrition. In 3 turns grabbing victory points off an opponent should be pretty hard, in a competitive setting. Hopefully my list will return the same favor. It would have been really nice to bump up the warriors and the KSB a few models but the points weren't there. Learning how to play with the cyclic Stone Scribe will be interesting, but the potential for him in an attrition list is pretty darn great. The caber thrower may end up being my VP grabber in a good deal of circumstances. I think this list paired up with a balanced Hoarluk list could provide some interesting problems against most steamroller stuff. Thanks for the read, and I would really appreciate any formation or combo advice you folks can share. Bouncer can be traded out for an axer or impaler until I decide which way I want to go with that one, so any advice is again really appreciated. thanks |

I think you need a bit of reach to help against good hit and run ranged lists that Everblight, Cryx, Cygnar, and Circle can drop if they want to. Other than that, curse you. I'm not looking forward to fighting that with my Mercenaries.

From what I've seen, trolls just have a little trouble with Legion... period. Burrowers are terrifying. I don't like the pyre... i'd rather see a bigger guy as the companion to the bouncer, not sure what i would take out though. |

Beasts I hate to see when trolls get put down in front of me: Earthborn (just too damn hard to kill), & Impaler (freaking critical slam... grr). The Impaler's animus works wonders on Madrak as well, plus it has reach, which might help it out slightly, over the Bouncer, plus the combination of Pyre and Impaler gives you a fair bit of oomph at range. Otherwise, ouch. That's pretty nasty. -t.

Thanks for your comments. The reason I have the pyre in there for now is the ability to buff damage output, it's one of the many things in the list that helps to keep my infantry tough. For example; using the pyre troll's animus to buff the kriel warriors as 3 of them go in for a cma against a heavy. Stuff like that is what this sort of trolls list is built on, I can't imagine not having a mauler or pyre in a list. The bouncer is more my concern. Keep in mind he does have reach, and tends to murder hard infantry. I can see the Madrak Impaler love for sure though, the axer could probably fill a similar roll. Thank goodness I have the points to play with all three until I find a clear winner. Thanks so far for your thoughts and advice |

Ah of course. I forgot about the impaler. A freind of mine always plays his impaler with Madrak. IT certainly works well. Stone bearers are excellent as well. You are slow, you are going to take some hits... better to mitigate the damage than try to avoid hits.
