Heres my list, I tried to make it a balanced shooty list, that can kill tanks and large numbers of soft targets. Also tried to add some decent counter assault. I plan on using the dreadnoughts to kill anything in close combat that makes it to my lines, and the Assault squad to move where ever they are needed. What do you think?
HQ: i would drop artificer as you wont be taking armor saves in shooting (assuming he's with the assault squad or most guns shot at him are AP2), and in close combat, people are gonna try direct the power weapon attacks at him. I personally don't like power fists on IC as you should always be using the I5, but that's just me. also, give him frags.
Elites: Dreads, give them extra armor.
Troops: looks ok.
Fast Attack: Looks good.
Heavy support: Drop the smokes from the whirlwind and give the pred extra armor.
For a counter-assault army, you have very little mobile units. 3 out of your 4 infantry units are meant to sit back and shoot. the dreads are a good counter-assault unit, but they can seem a bit slow at times. plus, if a 10-man unit locks them in close combat, that's it for them for the rest of the game as they can potentially kill 2 ppl in close combat per turn. giving smokes to a whirlwind is pretty pointless as 1, it should be hiding, and 2, if the enemy shoots at the whirlwind, thats one less shot he's taking against higher point things such as the predator. make sure the land speeders move atleast 6" every turn.
