I am just starting a Marine army, and wanted some opinions on the list I am building towards.
Advantages: See but don't be seen, Trust your battle brothers
Drawback: Flesh over steel
Master w/ Terminator Armor, MC Power Weapon, Storm Bolter
Terminator Command Squad: 2 Assault Cannons, Sgt. w/ Power Weapon
3 x 10 Man Tac Squads: Vet. Sgt. w/ MC Power Weapon and Teleport Homer, 10 Bolters, True Grit, Counter Attack, Infiltrate
3 x Landspeeders w/ Multi-Meltas
3 x Landspeeders w/ Typhoon Missile Launchers and Heavy Bolters
In your opinions, will the tac squads provide any value without heavy/special weapons? I like the idea of how they will play, but I can imagine situations where I have 30 guys in the middle of my board not doing anything at all. Any thoughts or tips will be appreciated.
Yeah i think your tac squads will be fine. I use 3x10 squads in 1500 pts as well - minus the trait bonuses though.
Bolter fire is enough to auto kill pretty much all units but for chaos marines, tau and eldar aspect warriors. So really they are nice and effective vs most armies. However, id still suggest dropping the master crafted power wep. (regular power wep is fine) and just put a plasma gun or meltagun in each squad instead. Probably meltas i think, since they will be close with infiltrate.
Also theres probably no need to have 3 teleport homers
