Welcome to Librarium Online!
List is pretty much set, just wanted some independant eyes to make sure it's legal and the numbers add up! This is the first real event I'll be attending in a good 6-7 years since I quit in University (with everyone else who played 2ed Orks) So it's mostly for fun and to get a little experience with how these things go these days. In future versions of the list the veteran celestian will probably be traded in for EA on the exos a melta in the celestiand and convert troops 2 & 3 to Melta + Heavy Flamer. Amazing what a couple of eviscerator swings costs you.
Canoness, Eviscerator, Jumppack, Cloak, Book
6 Celestians, Heavy Flamer
Vet w/ Eviscerator
Immolater w/ EA+Smoke
Troop 1: 203
10 Battle Sisters, Flamer, Meltagun
Vet w/ Book
Troop 2: 203
10 Battle Sisters, Flamer, Meltagun
Vet w/ Book
Troop 3: 205
10 Battle Sisters, Flamer, Heavy Flamer
Vet w/ Book
FA 1: 208
7 Seraphim, 2x Flamer
Vet w/ Book, Eviscerator
FA 2: 162
6 Seraphim, 2x Infernos
Heavy 1: 135
Heavy 2: 135
Heavy 3: 135
I think there are a few missing bits with the squads in that list.
No pistol for the canoness? I know it won't give her an extra attack but it seems a shame to waste the good BS. I find that Inferno Pistols, expensive as they are, are nearly always worth it.
The celestians are a flamer squad without the ability to use DG. This will considerably knock their first strike deadliness. A regular battle squad costs scarcely any more and will in practice be better.
I'd really try to scrounge up the points to upgrade those flamers to heavy flamers. The improved statline I find is well worth it.
The first seraphim needs to be 8 strong really to get DG and to improve it's resilience.
The second squad really needs a vet for the book and the imagifer effect, plus increased assault power from a power weapon or evisc.
Three Exo's is fearsome but EA would also be useful on them. It has saved my Exo's bacon many times by allowing them to still move out of harms way when shot up.
I'd drop the celestian squad as it stands and use the points saved to improve the rest of the army, particularly the seraphim.
List seems to be using every last point possible, and I do not see a way to upgrade the squads without cutting something good out. Tuff choice. Having many scoring units is usually a plus in 40K events, so dropping Celestians is problematic. You have loads of AT choices, and since I assume 2nd Seraph squad is going to go tank-hunting, I do not thing that you will be using the DG on them, hence small size is OK IMHO. Keep them safe from Morale checks though.
I would go with the list in it's current form.
It all will come down to the table, dice and who your enemy will be
Thanks for the feedback. Canoness does have a bolt pistol if you check her pts, forgot to type it in. That bolt pistol put a wound on a hive tyrant last week, never leave home without it!
The celestians are my concession to style and fluff. I love my Mk I Immolators and ForgeWorld Immolators and want one in the list.
I've played this list against some pretty tough opponents and they have not let me down. My smallest squad seems to always be scoring at the end of the game, I guess people foolishly ignore them. I will for sure play test it without the eviscerator and with meltaguns instead after this tournament. That would get me my heavy flamers and extra armor.
I passed up the Veteran on the smaller seras as they have no real reason to attempt an offensive act of faith. A book would be nice, but so far I have managed to keep them in range of someone else's book until they reach a point where the wreckage of the vehicle they just smoked protects them from incoming fire =). We'll see if I am so careful and effective with placing veterans and book bubbles under the 2hour tourney time limit!
The one thing I am sad I didn't manage to squeeze in is the 8th girl in the first seraphim squad. We'll see if I don't change my list Saturday morning and move one out of the second squad in a firt of second guessing.
Welp, results are in, pretty happy with how it went.
First game was against a competitive Blood Angels player from my club. I feel like I had his entire army taken care of, but I couldn't get that wretched Death Company to fail an FNP save for the life of me and they worked their way across the board running me out of infantry. Crushing Defeat, but I had fun and learned some lessons about Death Companies =).
Second game was a foot slogging Tau Gunline. Opponent was chatty and she played a bit slow, so we only got three turns in. I wasn't zipping along either since I kept getting in and out of the Rhinos, which takes forever. It was a tie at the end of three, but I had eliminated everything capable of hurting my Exos with two still mobile and firing, and the seraphim were in position to hit & run off some kroot and into the gunline, so I felt good about how it was going. Another A+ game.
Third game pulled a fairly fluffy marine list in an oddbal scenario. Escalation, objective enemy lines, night fight for first *3* turns. Opponent deployed his infantry wide. I ran my entire force in a block up one side and obliterated everything there. I also had first turn, so I got first shots when night lifted, he had not accounted for that and was exposed to all three exorcists. Three terminators fled off the board, lucky break there. Not such a fun game. I don't like slaughtering someone that badly anymore than I like losing that way. It was obvious I had it locked up after the first round of open shooting at the top of 4, but we had to play two more turns anyway.
Game 4, escalation AND corner deployment against an IG gunline, minimal terrain tourney board. Don't think I need to describe how that went =). I actually would have done quite well had I not blown one roll. My inferno pistols were in position to hit and run down the back of his tank line and have a rear armor field day. I rolled a 6 for hit & run, so the sentinels I was bouncing off of, by virtue of their large bases, were able to re-lock one of the girls with their consolidation =(. Great opponent who had come a long way to be there, glad I had a chance to meet him.
I really got my money's worth out that veteran Celestian's eviscerator in games 1 and 2, and there was only one turn in all 4 games where EA on an exo would have proven anything. Having second thoughts about changing the list now =/.
Good to hear that you had fun. That's what the hobby is all about - having fun playing games with friends! Rework your list if you have to, and play more games. Yayyy
