hey guys, heres my first ever 1k space marine army list. i have been playing 500-750 with my friends for a while, but now im collecting sm's again and going to 1k. this list is meant to be an all around list, which probabally means it wont be very good =( anwyays, thanks, and please comment!
Reclusiarch-term. honours, jump pack, bolt pistol
Tactical squad (10)-sergeant w/ close combat weapon, plasma gun
Tactical squad (-sergeant w/ close combat weapon, flamer, rhino w/ extra armor
Assualt Squad (5)-sergeant w/ term. honours, powerfist, bolt pistol, plasma pistol
Predator destructor-heavy bolters. extra armor
Devastator squad (5)-2 missle launchers, 1 plasma cannon, 1 lascannon
Who's to say an all-round list isn't good? If you're a good tactician you could fare well against most foes with an all-round list.
Anyway, I've looked for things this list could use. Things like smoke launchers on the Rhino and the Dreadnought. A veteran sergeant with a power weapon/fist, or a bolter-flamer for the rhino-born Tactical squad. The problem is, while these would be very helpfull changes they cost points and you're already 2 pts over. And with everything you drop, except the chaplain's terminator honours, you lose as much as you gain. So I come to the conclusion that there isn't much to the changed, the list is good.
I can only give two suggestions.
1) Unless they don't make a problem of it where you play, try and lose those 2 pts over.
2) Move two marines to the rhino-born squad. They can use the numbers better than the foot mobile squad.
i was thinking, should i add a heavy weapon to one of the tac. squads? when i get the devastator squad, ill have an extra heavy weapon to make. which do you recommend
Hmm, i have some thoughts, tell me what you think.
if you really need the points the chappy could loose the termie honors.
dread could use EA but thats not a priority
marines are fine in pairs of 8, drop 2 marines from the 10 man squad and try to squeeze in a power weapon.
8 man squad in rhino is fine, if you have any points left, smoke and EA are always nice.
take points from the first tac squad suggestion and bump these guys up to six (pending you have the models) at 5 man, you kill three they are no longer scoring, at 6 man, kill three, they are still scoring.
ok, this is my biggest bug in the list, you really lack tank busting, pred annhilators are much better IMO, i would take that instead.
ok, this is gonna be probably your biggest help getting points back, since IMO this squad is too expensive at the point level. drop the lascannon and plasmacannon and take and combination you like of heavy bolters and missle launchers (i dont know how you play, so i wouldnt know how to fit them)yeah, the guys in your shop might be cool with it, but i'd still try and bring it back to 1000pts.Anyway, I've looked for things this list could use.
