    1000 Black Templar Infantry Hoard

I was just thinking about how often my vehicles are vaporised and mabye i could stop it by taking 5 man squads with lascannons as my long range fire support instead with a couple of Dreads backing up large squads of crusaders

like place the lascannons in cover to avoid death and a charge and hopefully theyll ignore them fire at the infantry and dreads so they advance and the ranged 1s sit and fire I write up a list later to give you an idea and add it in :drinking:

umm to put it blankly thats the way your meant to use it. BT are meant to be crazy guys who walk across the battlefield in massive squads receiving back up from fire support teams maybe a dreadnought or 2 and LRC's. tanks in general aren't really on the BT a gender if your considering fluff.

IMHO, putting a heavy weapon in a BT squad robs them of their biggest strength, which is of course CC. You can't move up and charge as easily if you're depending on your line squads to break tanks and monstrous creatures. With my BT I like to use Land Speeders for my big guns. Between the variations you can kill just about anything your opponent throws at you, and since they are skimmers, they're a little more survivable. Not to mention good for getting table quarters.

I don't know how you play but you don't need that much anti-tank in a 1000pt game. Maybe you misunderstood me when i said "that's how they are meant to be played". heres what I'd do.

The HQ is fine though the chappy could use with melta bombs or holy orb of Antioch. I've never managed to get through a game without my chappy combating a tank and melta bombs save having to buy a fist.

Your troops is where there is a problem. The big squads good but they should have a power fist and melta not a power weapon and flamer. I'd drop the 2 small squads and dread for another crusade squad. Max both of them out and give each a PF and melta gun.

I'd get a landspeeder with multi-melta and heavy flamer. They are cheap and great at what they do. They will take out any tank with ease and deny entire areas of the table to most of your opponents troops (most players don't like getting there 150pt units getting burnt beyond belief8X).

Your elites are good though 1 dreadnought is enough at this points level. keep the dread with lascannon/missile launcher and make him venerable if theres enough points.

The big squads will get shot but that's good they just get to the enemy faster. By the time they get there they won't have lost many guys only 5 or 6 and they'll over run the enemy. the landspeeder will die early but hopefully you'll use it well and kill some stuff first
the dread will take out any tanks stupid enough to show themselves while trying to shoot your crusade squads.

Looks much better. Believe me those dreads will deal with your opponents tanks really well not to mention the fact they take out small squads really easily.
