    750 Pure GK, first time

Hey guys, this is my first DH sketch of a pure GK, DH army that I want to build. 750 points looks like a good place to start due to all the possibilities. For now, I want to focus more on my Infantry.. and I know that'll leave me a bit exposed in terms of anti-armor. Feel free to add and adjust as you see fit, but please abide by these rules:

    1) No Inquisitors, IG, SM or Daemonhosts.

    Variant #1

    HQ
    BC + Psycannon + MCNFW = 106

    Elite
    4x GKT (1x TH/SS) = 184

    Troop #1
    Justicar + Metabomb + 7x PAGK = 230

    Troop #2
    Justicar + Metabomb + 7x PAGK = 230

    Total: 735 points

    Variant #1

    HQ
    BC + Psycannon = 91

    Troop #1
    Justicar + Metabomb + 7x PAGK + 1x Psycannon = 255

    Troop #2
    Justicar + Metabomb + 7x PAGK + 1x Psycannon = 255

    Heavy Support #1
    GK Dreadnaught + TLLC + ML + EA + Smokes = 148

    Total: 749

In your first list, the GKTs would be placed with the brother captain as a retinue. If you want them as an elite choice they require a brother captain of their own.

Don't take psycannons on regular grey knights if you can avoid it, rather take those psycannons on terminators.

Third list, don't bother with purgation squads, they cost too many points.

And I know your against vehicles, but I'm going to suggest it anyways, stick a Dreadnought in there, an anti-tank dreadnought can sit back and fire away and will only cost you one minimum squad of grey knights.

Hi, welcome to our forum! Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with our rules. Posting individual points costs is not allowed (due to potential copyright breach, which could get LO into some legal trouble), so I took the liberty of editing your post. Feel free to post unit totals, however. Thanks.

Just to let you know, that last little bit there above is a bit rude. IMO.

Meltabombs on your justicar, not worth it. a vehicle can too easily stay away from your units for you to ever be able to catch up to it. Your better off spending those points to get another Grey Knight.

How exactly was that rude? I meant no offense..

I can see some serious anti-vehicle troubles with a 750 point army. Should I stay with 500 points and learn how to play first?

    Phrasing.

There isn't much you can learn at 500 that you can't learn at 750. I'd just recommend including a dreadnought.

I know you dont want vehicles, but I'd strongly consider a dread w/TLLC & ML.

Just dont think of him as a vehicle... just a huge grey knight who's really pissed about being encased in a dreadnought and is shooting the crap out of everything! ;Y

You need some sort of vehicle in your army, weather you want one or not. Vehicles are the only way GKs get anti-tank. Meltabombs won't do anything, as the tanks can outmaneuver you the entire game.

Well, if you want to run a purely GK army and be competitve, you're going to need to eventually add in some vehicles. Either LRs or Dreads. Otherwise, you just will not be able to kill AV 13+. However, if you don't mind going outside pure GK, induct some IG platoons into your army and make them an all infantry list. Lots of lascannons from the Guard will solve your problem.
