Hey guys. this is a 1750 list I made possably for a tournament later on. Adavice is welcome.

    HQ:
Belial, Master of Deathwing - 130pts
Squad Belial is accompanying- Deathwing Terminators - 275pts
    AC, Apothecary

    Troops:
    Deathwing Terminators - 245pts
    AC
    Deathwing Terminators - 270pts
AC, (5x)chainfists (chainfists are point fillers)

    Fast Attack:
    Ravenwing Attack Squadron (3) - 140pts
    (2x) Meltagun
    Attackbike w/Multi-melta - 50pts

    Ravenwing Attack Squadron (3) - 130
    (2x) Flamers
    Attackbike w/Multi-melta - 50pts

    Elites:
    Dreadnought - 160pts
    Venerable, extra armour
    Transport: Drop pod - 50pts

    Which landraider should I use?

I'm going to put one terminator squad in the landraider.

    I wouldn't bring DAs to a tourney.

At 2500 I suppose DA would be quite a bit more effective. However, at 1750, your bringing 22 models, plus 2 tanks.

None of which are very cost effective. To me, DAs are a one trick pony. Either the death wing bomb works or it doesn't. Its largely dependent on what your opponent is fielding, and how familiar they are with DAs.

Any player who knows the MO of the DAs will counter by simply placing everything behind cover, making it difficult for the arrival of the deathwing to have much effect.

Out numbered, and usually out assaulted and gunned, the death wing will fall quickly.

Shame, DAs are the coolest army, with the weakest rules.

Well when will you ever see a Ravenwing/Deathwing army with a high model count? I kinda like the list. But I do kinda see your point a little. I'll play test the list I made above. And I'll play test this list as well.

How much better/worse do you think this lists is compared to the first posted one?

    HQ:
    Chaplain - 120pts
    Jump pack

    Troops:
    Tatical Squad 1 (10 marines) - 190pts
    Plasma gun, Missile Launcher

    Tatical Squad 2 (10 marines) - 190pts
    Plasma gun, Missile Launcher

    Tatical Squad 3 (10 marines) - 190pts
    Plasma gun, Heavy Bolter

    Fast Attack:
    Assault Squad (5 marines) - 140pts
    Sergeant- power weapon

    Ravenwing Attack Squadron (3 Bikes) - 140pts
    (2x)Melta Gun
    Attack Bike w/Multi-melta - 50pts

    Elite:
    Dreadnought - 155pts
    Missile Launcher, Twin-linked Lascannon

    Deathwing Terminators - 245pts
    Assault Cannon

    Heavy Support:
    Devastator Squad (10 marines) - 245pts
    (4x)Missile Launchers

    Whilrwind - 85pts

    Thats 57 models.

I play Deathwing quite often and would say it is not an easy army to play well, it isnt a one trick pony but an army that rewards thinking and mutual support. I only ever hold one squad in reserve and that is usually acting a bit more like an infiltrator unit (a last counter to your opponents deployment - except it is done even later which is a bonus). Generally I would choose a standard landraider for the first force as it gives good AT fire and can be used as mobile cover and emergency evac.

Unfortunately I do not have any comments on the second list

Give him twin lightning claws to take advantage of his better Init and attacks.

Squad Belial is accompanying- Deathwing Terminators - 275pts
    AC, Apothecary
Excellent, but need a twin lightning claw termy in here too maybe.

    Troops:
    Deathwing Terminators - 245pts
    AC
    Deathwing Terminators - 270pts
AC, (5x)chainfists (chainfists are point fillers)
You're wasting points on the chainfists bigtime. One per squad is ample. Use any spare points to buy a power fist or power weapon for the Ravenwing Sarge. Same comment re lightning claws as above.

    Fast Attack:
    Ravenwing Attack Squadron (3) - 140pts
    (2x) Meltagun
    Attackbike w/Multi-melta - 50pts
Three man biker units die fast. Get either a power weapon or fist for the sarge. The AB is excellent.

    Ravenwing Attack Squadron (3) - 130
    (2x) Flamers
    Attackbike w/Multi-melta - 50pts
Dump this unit by combining with the squadron above.

    Elites:
    Dreadnought - 160pts
    Venerable, extra armour
    Transport: Drop pod - 50pts
Forget the extra armour. Forget the drop pod. Two Dreads are ALWAYS better than one. So use any points from the disbanded 2nd bike squadron and this pod to get another dread. One Dread to be armed with a TLLC/ML if points allow, or maybe plasma for horde/deepstriking enemies.

    Heavy Support:
Landraider OR Landraider Crusaider - 250
A single LR is a point sink. Take two or none, Crusaders being optimal for delivering termy squads. It's very risky just transporting one squad – besides why bother as you have already gone to the trouble of getting RW squadrons? Swap this LR for another termy squad.

Seems to me you need to make your mind up between a pure mech DW, or a multiwing using both DW and RW. As it is at 1750 points and in a tourney setting you are caught painfully between two camps.

    Best of luck.

Good points Zurial. I'll make another lists some time today and post it. Thanks!

Your first list is pretty light on models for a 1750 list. As cool as they are, I'd drop the landraider altogether. For the points pick up another termi squad.

Also, I agree that you should get rid of the drop pod and venerable for the dread, or just do venerable no EA. See if you can at least beef up one bike squad to 6 guys.

The list idea isn't horrible. Look up my mixed wing list here on the site. 3 termi squads, 1 full RW unit with AB and speeder, a dread, 2 predators, and some speeders. I haven't gotten it all put together yet, but at 1500 I have the dread and one pred, and it's kicking some rear end.

Your second list is real solid I'd say. I like the 3 full sized tac squads with special and heavy. Very smart, can't go wrong there.
Age is a state of mind, and since I have no mind, I don't age.
