    1850 for upcoming tourney

    Doctrines:
    Close Order
    Iron Discipline
    Grenadiers
    Veterans

    HQ:
JO w/ Honorific and Iron Discipline - Boltpistol/Powerweapon
    Vet w/ Company Standard
    3 Melta's
    Commissar w/ Boltpistol/Powerweapon

    3 Heavybolters
    3 Autocannons
    3 Lascannons

    Elites:
10 man Vet squad: 3 Plasmas, 6 Lasguns, Vet Sgt with Boltgun
10 man Vet squad: 3 Plasmas, 6 Lasguns, Vet Sgt with Boltgun
9 man Vet squad: 3 meltas, 5 Shotguns, Vet Sgt with Powerfist/Boltpistol mounted in a Chimera (HB/H

    Troops #1:
    JO w/ Iron Discipline - Boltgun/CCW
    4 Flamers

x5 10 man Infantry squads with 8 Lasguns, Grenade Launcher, Vet Sgt with Boltgun

    Troops #2:
10 man Grenadier squad w/ 2 Plasmas, Vet Sgt with Hellpistol, PW, Meltabomb
    mounted in a Chimera (Multilaser/H

    Fast attack:
    1 Hellhound

    Heavy Support:
    1 Bassie w/ Indirect Fire

This is a complete change from my normal force (big static gunline and 3 tanks) which I haven't done very well with. My problem has always been movement and I think this force will allow me to move around the board better. The only force I really fear is Nids, I've never won against them and have always been slaughtered.

would like extra armour and probably smoke on the transports and hellhound, dont like platoon, lacks fire power, if they take out your fire support squads and vehicles, they can mop up your troops with ease
Everything you have been told is a lie!

    1) I don't need the Heavy Weapons Squads Doctrine. These are attached to the HQ.

    2) My Heavy Bolters have never failed me yet

    3) I took the Heavy's out of my Infantry Squads to make them mobile. I've had a problem in the past being too static. I know there are many ongoing debates on the effectiveness of mass Lasgun fire, but it has worked well for me in the past, so I'm sticking with it.

    4) I left out that all four of my vehicles have Extra Armor and the Chimeras have smoke. Never leave home without it. 8Y

    Thanks for the comments

    you are right - appologies
    2) My Heavy Bolters have never failed me yet
heavy bolters suck vs MEQ, they are lethal against light infantry, but lack str or AP for more durable targets
If you play a lot of Light inf armies then fine, but me I seem to face MEQs atleast 7 times out of 10

having a heavy weapon doesnt make you less mobile, unless you choose to use it, again MEQs will eat guard 1 on 1 in small arms battles

I changed my list up just before we had to turn them in for the tourney.

    Doctrines:
    Close Order
    Iron Discipline
    Grenadiers
    Veterans
    Ratlins

    HQ:
JO w/ Honorific and Iron Discipline - Boltpistol/Powerweapon
    Vet w/ Company Standard
    3 Melta's
    Commissar w/ Boltpistol/Powerweapon

    3 Heavybolters
    3 Autocannons
    3 Lascannons

    Elites:
    5 Ratlin Snipers
10 man Vet squad: 3 Plasmas, 6 Lasguns, Vet Sgt with Boltgun
9 man Vet squad: 3 meltas, 5 Shotguns, Vet Sgt with Powerfist/Boltpistol mounted in a Chimera (HB/H

    Troops #1:
    JO w/ Iron Discipline - Boltgun/CCW
    4 Flamers

x5 10 man Infantry squads with 8 Lasguns, Grenade Launcher, Vet Sgt with Boltgun

    Troops #2:
10 man Grenadier squad w/ 2 Plasmas, Vet Sgt with Hellpistol, PW, Meltabomb
    mounted in a Chimera (Multilaser/H

    Fast attack:
    1 Hellhound

    Heavy Support:
1 Demolisher w/Hull HB and sponson Plasma cannons

First round was last night. I squared off against the Hordes of Chaos in a Take and Hold mission.

He got the first turn and all his shooting did nothing to me, except kill off 4 Vets I had inflitrated. My turn came around and that Vet Squad then rapid fired thier Plasma's and killed off 4 marines, then my HB squad and Snipers took care of ther rest. I then destroyed his Dread and his Defiler. At the end of the game I had won my over 450 points, basically all he had was a Land Raider and about 4 guys left from broken units. I still had my Storm Troopers and 2 Infantry Squads that had taken the objective, my Demolisher, and 2 other infantry squads that had withered away his last unit of deepstriking Termies.

I will now be moving on to round #2.
