a very solid list I must say sir! a few adjustments if I may.
First drop smoke from the russ. You most likely wont want to use it ever. I'd go for extra armor instead..
Second I'd drop a M-laser sentinel and the Bassilisk in favor of a second russ. Things work best in pairs. Also split the sentinels into separate squads. This will make them really friggin annoying!
Everything else looks great. Although I personally like to leave at least one las gunner in my command squads to take the first wound but its up to you in the end.
Hope this helps!
Only a few things.
you dont need to take storm troopers as a doctrine if you already took grenadiers.
i never really found command squads to be that great of a counter assualt unit, i think the power weapon is kind of a point sink.
i agree with rocket on the sentinals. seperate them as they will be more annoying.
good list otherwise
That isnt how I read the FAQ (unless there has been a new one)
I read it as: You dont need to take Restricted Troops: Stormtroopers as well as grenadiers in order to take TROOPS stormtrooper squads. I thought you still needed it to take ELITES stormtrooper squads.
Not relavent here but just stating my take on that (If I am wrong please tell me), It seems to me a lot of people are doing a bit of wishful thinking on occasion.
Apart from that, nice list. I might be tempted to agree with the second Leman Russ option, but thats just a personal preference thing, see how you like the basilisk.
The name refers to facial hair, not playing style.Originally Posted by A news vendor's stand, London, June 1940
I don't have a link to the FAQ handy, but I have it downloaded, you don't need to take stormtroopers for grenadiers, only if you want to take stormtroopers for elites.
One pencil stab isn't dangerous, 20 000 pencil stabs are. Although the one pencil that hits you in the eye...
you do not need to take the Storm Troopers Doctrine in order to take Grenadiers. So that frees up a doctrine point for you!:drinking: Might I suggest adding Iron Discipline to help keep the boys in line better?
Lets have a look here:
Beardy has it exactly right. Stormtroopers doctrine for elites and the grenadiers one for the troops. Simpel rule of thumb only one doctrine is needed to take a unit.
Other doctrines seem ok though I'm not a fan of sharpshooters.
Senior officers arent really worth the points you migth as well pay the extra for the HSO or Jo with honorifica. Not to sure on the usefulness of the standard with that setup though it seems ok.
Support squad seems ok not my cup of tea but seems fine.
The platoon command is illegal, they are only allowed a JO as the platoon leader no-one senior. The only way to improve the stats here is the honorifica. Use the points saved here to upgrade the main commands leadership.
The squads are simple and effective so shoudl be fine.
The Kasrkin I do have a problem with. Firstly there are ten of them. In smaller poinst levels you want their squads smaller and harder hitting. If you have the commands setup the way they are then you dont need another line plugging squad so cut them down to five. They also have no way of gettingt o grips with the enemy so giev them a chimera somehow! I'd suggest losing a single sentinel and 5 of the grenadiers thatd give you a chimera with multilas and heavy bolter (so you dont lose the sentinels firepower) also extra amrour and smokes with 2 points spare. go for a coupel of bolt pistols somewhere.
The russ is fine apart form the smokes these are an extra option at 1750 points + IMO you shouldn't be in a position with your tank where they will come in handy. Use the points form these with the spare 2 from above and get yourself extra armour on the russ.
Bassie seems fine.
This list is ok but there are a few thins whcih need tweaking and one illegality that needs sorting. Even as is this list should do fine.
hope that helps
