master with storm bolter
x2 10 marine squads each with a missle laucher and a flamer
x1 Rhino with extra armor, dozer blade, and pintle mounted storm bolter
I have 18 points to spare. What should i do?
For a 500 point game, that's a nice amount models you've put in.
Alright, for the Master, you really should remove that storm bolter. Generally Space Marine HQs are close combat oriented, so you should build them that way. They have higher initiative and also higher WS than your regular joe, and HQ shooty weapons are not much use. Put in Termie Honours, a pistol, a power weapon or powerfist, and you're all set for a 5 attack CC monster (by marine standards in any case 0. The points are of course over your limit but that's where you have to tweak your points.
From your rhino, I am guessing you are going to have one squad go close and personal with the enemy. If this was the case, you should remove the heavy weapon from that squad. The other squad that is not going to move could be split into two squads of five with one missile launcher each.
I hope you have some spare models to pull this off though, if not you may also want to split the other ten men squad into two five men squads with a flamer each. This would also allow you to put the Master in the rhino so he won't be targeted too early.
Hope that gives you some ideas
hi there, id suggest that you could drop the missile launch from 1 squad and the dozer blade from the rhino(its doubtful at 500 points the battlefield will be so clutter that youll be forced over terrain)
upgrade the flamer to a melta and buy a jump pack and power sword for your commander.
this way youll have a bit of combat naughtyness, a long range tank hunter and a short range unit which can support the commander if needed.
