I'll start with what i field now and then my planned 500 addition to the army!
1,000pt ARMY LIST - Vanilla Marines, no traits.
Master Of Sanctity w/ Bolt Pistol, Jump Pack - 121 points
8 Tactical - Flamer - 126
8 Tactical - Plasma - 130
Dreadnaught w/ Smoke - 108
5 Assault Marines w/ - Vet Serg, Power First.
- Plasma Pistol x2
- Melta Bombs - 170
3 Bikes w/ - Vet Serg, Power Fist
- Melta Gun x2 - 122
5 Marines w/ 2 Missile Launchers - 100
Predator Annihilator w/ H. Bolters & smoke - 123
ARMY COST: 1,000
This is my first army and the one i field at the moment. Please note that this is also the models i have! With the exception of the Bikes (which seem to die quite quick, even with their invuln save) i am reluctant to take anything out.
NEXT 500 POINTS
I am thinking of adding to the list
5 Terminators w/ Assault Cannon & two Chainfists - 230
Rhino - smoke/armour - 58 (for one of the tactical squads)
Razorback - smoke - 73 (for devastators)
Predator Annihilator - w/ Lascannon sponsons, smoke and extra armour. - 148
I was also considering trying to squeeze an additional (3rd) missile launcher into the devastator squad.
I already have the terminators and really like the models, so i would like to include those. I also already have all the models in my 1000 point force. While i would consider trading out the bikes (i havent painted them!) I would like to keep anything else in
The force needs to be able to deal with all-comers. I have tried to get a mobile force with lots of hard hitting units, as well as a solid core of troops. I've won several games with my 1,000 points using a hammer/anvil style tactic. Problems ive come up against have been a limited amount of fire power vs. tough CC units, which my CC just cannot compete with and my army couldnt shoot up. (Blood Angels/Tyranids with tons of big stuff)
If more experienced marine players could provide me with their ideas for my list and any changes they feel would greatly improve my ability to compete (preferably without removing too many of my finished models! the odd few is okay though).
Thanks in advance, im very excited to hear what you have to say!
I like what I see so far. It's got potential to it. I was going to point out the need for a rhino on you flamer squad but I read the rest and that solves that lol. I really do like how the 1000 points lays out though. I would like to see at least one transport in there. Probably the Razorback but for now it should be competative enough for fun games. Try and work a speeder and maybe a vindicator into the list. Those should be more than enough to take care of all your anti...everything needs up close and personal. They will allow you to focus a little more of your purchases on fire support units. Perhaps some scouts. A five man team with sniper rifles and a heavy bolter. A good use of 90 points. or a tactical scout squad wit ha missile launcher. 70 points with infiltrating AT support. Take a gander through the codex a few more times and see what everything has to offer you.
However, you are having some problems scoring out your units. I can't quote the individiual points values themselves, against the rules I'm sure you'll notice what I'm talking about. If not message me and i'll help you out with a little more detail.
