So I had some free time at my local GW store this past weekend. Everyone was playing fantasy so I had no opponents . In any case, I decided to pick up the demonhunters codex and give it a look through, because they always appealed to me. I cooked up this list that seems at least like it would be fun to field, not sure on its effectiveness though, so here goes:
HQ: Grandmaster, Psycannon, Psychic Hood - 195 pts
Terminators x 4, Psycannon, 1 x Thunder Hammer/Storm Shield - 209 pts
Elites: Inquisitor, Psycannon, Sage x 2, Mystic, Heavy Bolter Servitor x 2, Plasma Cannon Servitor - 171 pts
Death-Cult Assassins x 3 - 120 pts
Eversor Assassin - 95 pts
FA: Deepstriking Grey Knights x 4 + Justicar, 150 pts
Troops: Stormtroopers x 9 + 1 Veteran, 2 x Plasma, Teleport Homer, Chimera, Smoke Launchers - 228 pts
Stormtroopers x 9 + 1 Veteran, 2 x Melta, Teleport Homer, Chimera, Smoke Launchers - 228 pts
Infantry Platoon 1 - 235 pts
Junior Officer, Lascannon
Squad 1, Lascannon
Squad 2, Lascannon
Infantry Platoon 2 - 214 pts
Junior Officer, Heavy Bolter, Grenade Launcher
Squad 1, Heavy Bolter, Grenade Launcher
Squad 2, Heavy Bolter, Grenade Launcher
Heavy Support: Leman Russ, Hull Heavy Bolter, Sponson Heavy Bolter, 155 pts
Total Points = 2000 pts
The list could either play as just a gunline with some very powerful counter charge units, or, if I needed to come at something, it's got enough fast things to get to enemy shooters.
the only thing I see is your command squads look a little top heavy. There's only 5 guys and they die pretty quick, so usually just give them 1 thing to do. A cheap way of doing that is just having the one heavy weapon. It's not that big of a deal though.
Aren't you only allowed one IG infantry platoon in each Daemonhunter army? Am I wrong? Unless I'm remembering wrong, I thought all the Imperial Guard units were 0-1 choices when taken in the Daemonhunter army.
no, you can have as many as the FO will allow as long as you have your 2 GK or INQ stormtroopers troop choices.
Does that go for just the platoons, or all the IG units? Are the infantry platoons not 0-1 choices in the list (I might be remembering them wrong, but I thought they were), or was there a rule change that allows you to take more than one of anything?
Thanks for the help, I'm new at Daemonhunters and I just want to make sure I understand the rules correctly.
