Just wanted to know what you guys thought of my list?
Obviously a defensive force with a couple of counter attacking units
HSO, power weapon, boltpistol, Veteran medic, Veteran standard, all with laspistol + cc weapon ( 98 )
- Commisar, powerweapon, boltpistol ( 46 )
- Mortar support squad ( 80 )
- Sentinel with Autocannon ( 50 )
Hardened Veterans, 9 Veterans, Veteran Sergeant with boltgun
Lascannon, 3 plasma guns ( 141 )
A Platoon: JO, boltpistol + cc weapon, Heavybolter
Sqaud 1, lascannon
Sqaud 2, Missle launcher, grenade launcher
Sqaud 3, Autocannon, Plasma gun ( 304 )
B Platoon: JO, Heavybolter
Sqaud 1, Missle launcher, plasmagun
Sqaud 2, Autocannon, grenade launcher ( 218 )
Sentinel, lascannon (55)
Rough Riders, 4 + Veteran Sergeant with hunting lances ( 61 )
Leman Russ, 3 x heavybolter ( 155 )
Demolisher, lascannon ( 165 ) *not sure on the demolisher, may be swapped for standard Leman Russ*
Basalisk, indirect fire ( 125 )
Also not sure if the heavy weapons are right for the sqauds.
HSO and Rough riders will counterattack, everything else shoots until the enemy are dead
This list seems fairly good. However ther are a couple of things. Firstly the medic isn't needed that'll save oyu a few points. Secondly the vet squad isn't a great setup. The plasma and las dont go together even in vert squads. either give them a five man plas or five man las squad and use the plas squad as infiltrating (should be good using the new flanking rules if I rmember correctly)
It might be an idea to swap the lascannon sentinels weapon to a multilaser. This is for two reasons, you already have two lascannons to deal with heavy tanks as well as the missiles if needed), the autocannons can deal with medium to light tanks (plasma can help out where it can) the only thing that is missing is a decent anti infantry weapons apart from the russ. The indirect can be good but these two wont be able to take on everything. The multilaser can double as anti transport and also can take out heavy infantry in cover without loss of firepower (as it has crappy AP anyway).
Now I know I have ignored your heavy bolters in the platoon commands but the sentinel is more mobile and woudl then give you a good aggresive medium as you already have a decent amount of lascannons
Also if you do that and get rid of the medic you should be able to get two vet squads one with plas and one with las for a more effective firebase.
Hope that helps
Thanks a lot, rep for you
I think you are right about the Sentinel, the model came with the lascannon so I've never really thought of using anything else.
The Vets where originally like that because I was thinking that they would be able to take on anything that came their way, however they where expensive for a Guard unit so I'll try them how you suggested.
