me and a couple of my friends are planning to have some battles this summer.
i was wondering if my imperial guard army is evend out
HQ command squad in chimera
ELITE 10xstorm troopers, 1 tec enginseer
TROOPS 2x45 man platoons
HEAVY SUPPORT 1xlemanruss
this = around 1500pts
is this an even army against a couple of space marine players and a tyranid player
also i am planning to add 500pts of gray knights for are next battle if anyone can help
As would some more information, such as special and heavy weapons. As your list is written they are armed with basic weaponry ie lasguns and hellguns and if so, no they wouldn't work well at all.Originally Posted by the Dave

two platoons with 4 squads of guardsmen (8 squads) with sergeant and grenade launcher
2 command platoons with junior officer

tecpreist enginseer and 2 technical servitors
and i am allso adding some gray knights to my army
5x grey knight
1x grey knight justicar
this is my army list
(sorry if its a bit scruffy)
I think that would be very good against a horde Tyranid army, lots of troops to bathe their little critters in flashlights, and lots of launched frag grenades should be fun.
But, against an MC- heavy 'Nid list, and the Space Marines, I think you'll be woefully lacking in anything with a real punch, except the Russ, which probably won't last long as a result. You also seem to have next to no real anti-tank.. which will be a problem with the new rules making Tanks even tougher to crack.
Also, with so many troops, I think it could be very hard to get clear lines of sight, meaning half your army will be blocking, and reducing the effectiveness, of the other half.
So, I'd reduce the number of troops, and use the points to buy more anti-tank and tougher weapons.
Also, I don't think that the Techpriest Enginseer will be of all that much use, as you only have one tank, so once that gets destroyed (And it will be very high on an opponents target priority list), he will be next to useless.

you make a very good point here about the line of sight and i think i will down size on the men to about 40-50 men and i still have a lemanruss battle tank, basalisk and chimera left over i can use i have allso put my command squad in a chimera to keep the safe through the campaign i am allso thinking of adding 3 missile launcher teams
and one of my opponents is a tyranid hord player
