im just starting to put together a combat patrol force, and have read some of the codex and come up with a list any advice on how effective it would be in general would be good.
HQ 50 pts
2 Guardsmen with lasguns
1 Heavy Bolter Team
Troops 240 pts
1 Stormtrooper sergeant
3 Stormtroopers with Hellguns
2 Stormtroopers with plasma guns
Fast Attack 110 pts
2 Sentinels with lascannon
any comments on this would be great. I didnt really know what to do with the command squad so just got the basic and gave them a heavy bolter. I really like the storm trooper models plus they have obvious advantages for combat patrol such as the targeter and the carapace armour means they wont kill themselves too much with the plasma guns so the grenadiers was an obvious choice. and the lascannon has a massive range so although the sentinels could get in close they probably could sit back and take out any big units. the obvious problem is buying 6 ST with PG but i reckon theyd be good for taking out space marines or anything armoured.
The sentinels make as two seperate squadrons of 1, also consider dropping the lascannons for autocannons.
The sentinels are BS3 so 2 shots are better than 1 and at this level A/C are good against the armour you're likely to face.
That would save another 10pts
Then you could run 3 squads of 8 stormtroopers and two A/C sentinels in support.
Just my 2 cents anyway.
Only an idiot fights a war on two fronts. Only the heir to the throne of the kingdom of idiots would fight a war on twelve fronts.
thanks mate thats very helpful. i was kinda just filling empty space with the command platoon so yeah 6 more hellguns would kick ass and i reckon thats a gd call on the autocannons. only problem now is buying the stormtroopers with plasma guns lol. thanks mate
With a bit of maneuvering at that point level, the melta guns you get in the kasrkin blisters are nice too, and have that bit of extra punch. I used them this weekend, to good effect! Lascannons are nice though, for getting that almost-assured penetrating hit, and for instant -deathing SMs.
