Welcome to Librarium Online!
I just started a space marines army based on a 2000 pt army using blood angels. I need a suggestion for a HQ and then units that arent worth the pts
Chaplain- 100 pts
5 Terminators- 200 pts
3 lightning claws
2 thunder hammer and storm shields
10 veteran assault marines- 275 pts
5 scouts- 80 pts
5 sniper rifles
5 death company- 0 pts
10 tactical marines- 190 pts
10 tactical marines- 190 pts
5 bike marines- 170 pts
Land raider- 250 pts
Devastator sqaud- 115 pts
Id drop the bikes and have assault bikes armed with multimeltas their excellent armour hunters and character killers.
Question.. where are your assaults lol, being blood angels id stick at least one full squad of assault into the mix (split them into comabt squads if u like)
Have you included your weapons cost for your devs?
With your VAS take no more than 8, id say middle finger to landradier and get the terminus ultra version, if your going in with one of those id spend the 50 extra points for one of the strongest tanks in the game.
Or bin it completely, you could get two predators in there (annilator and a baal varient), id recomend a dreadnaught very handy in a pinch and with the run rule can cause mayhem if used correctly.
HQ- 2000 points youve got a large choice to pick from, i tend to use memphiston from 1500 upwards, just cause he flippin tough and has alot of powerfull stuff, dante is very good, tycho/lemartes are for lower point battles as are cheap and have a few nasties, corbulo havent played yet myself but thanks to the new codex bd only get furoius charge when hes around so its up to you realy.
Hop that helped
I agree with Hellblade about your bikes, 3 attack bikes would run you 20 pts less and have 6 wounds as opposed to 5, and although they look very formidable geared up as they are, it looks like your list might benefit from the Attack Bikes more.
That said, you could free up some points by dropping the las cannons and HB in your Devs for 4 MLs, the ML will be nearly as good at killing tanks and have the added advantage of taking out hordes of troops with ease, all while saving some points. ( I would consider cutting the Devs and picking up a 3rd Troop choice w/ ML and Flamer in Rhino because troops are pretty important these days)
The issue of HQ units is interesting here, I see that you are sporting a Terminator squad in a LR, I like that choice as I will be testing something similar very soon. Because I haven't played it yet I can only tell you what I plan to try: 5 Termies w/ twin LCs lead by Corbulo all inside an LR Crusader. I chose Corbulo for the FC he would give this squad and obviously his nifty priestly side effect.
Also, Lemartes could lead your DC for a small points cost giving you 3 very potent Assault units. (Lemartes + 5 man DC, Corbulo + 5 man termie in LR, and 10 man VAS geared up well) If you chose Lemartes and Corbulo in this army I think you would be very efficient points wise as both are relatively cheap, and Lemartes is going to out perform a similar costing home brew chaplain. That would be my suggestion.
Your other option might be Dante with a HG and the Chapter Banner and let your DC do their thing unsupervised (which isn't always a bad idea) Of course this route is considerably more expensive and perhaps a 2500pt list choice.
Also, the sniper scout points might be better spent on a Furioso, because he is going to draw more attention from your primary assault push, and he could probably take out some armor along the way (not to mention he's usually smashy in assault)
I think it is important to realize that BA do not do the shooty thing as well as some other SM chapters BUT they are more successful with assault based strategies than many other SM chapters and that is why my advice usually is that if you are spending points on units whose only job will be to sit back and fire at the enemy (Snipers/Devs) be sure those points are being used to support the assault elements of your army in a way that will come in handy every turn of every game, which sounds crazy but you have to keep in mind that sometimes getting into assault can be the hardest thing in the game to accomplish, and if everyone in the army isn't constantly helping you do that, than the most powerful, game turning-ly scary units under your command might never see battle.
