The plan is to infiltrate onto objectives or really close to the enemy or use the outflank rule to get at the rear armor and really close to the lines of static armies. A much smaller 500 pt version has been used with success. When the new codex comes out I know I will have to remake it without traits but I'll deal with that when I'm actually holding the thing in my hands. I appreciate any and all feedback.
looks fairly solid:
i'd try and get at least one lascannon for some good, long-range anti tank firepower
and it'd be good to have transports, as your scouts'll need support as quickly as possible, i'd recommend giving both your tac squads razorbacks, that way you'll have five guys sitting back at the very start giving, albeit meagre, cover fire.
and you'll have to make a few drastic changes with the release of the new codex coming out very soon
but as it stands, its got a good balance and a fair few bobies
I appreciate the suggestion. The tactical squads are actually going to be infiltrating right next to the scout squads so there's really no need for any transports just yet. Also, about the lascannons, I figure that I can infiltrate into positions that let me fire onto the side armor of vehicles or even use the outflank rule and hit their rear armor.i'd recommend giving both your tac squads razorbacks, that way you'll have five guys sitting back at the very start giving, albeit meagre, cover fire.
oh, i must've glanced over the Infiltrate special rule!! sorry
i like your idea for getting up close and nasty with the tanks, you might consider the multi-melta in one tac squad, as they are positively delightful when it comes to chewing armour!
plus to get heavy weapons you must have a ten man tac squad coming to 170 points, but then you get a flamer for free and a heay bolter, multi-melta or a rocket launcher for free, so thats 170 points and a free heavy weapon of your choice of three and free flamer. but im affraid that you will only be able to give one tac squad infiltrate, and thats it you couple them with shrike, as far as i can see thats the only way to do it usingthe new dex, bugger i know bt it oly lets you do one squad and seems a waste for shrike really.
and if you take sicarus you can get another btut htat limits your hq choices to these two special characters and that only lets you infiltrate one squad apiece.
Veterans can still take infiltrate though, correct? In that case I'll switch these to the elites slot. The only problem is that they will cease to count as scoring units
nope im afraid in the new codex they cant infiltrate, the only way i can see of getting them able to do so is to take shrike and sicarus as characters, theses then fill up your HQ slots and only let you have 1 infiltrating squad per character, the only way you can manage somethign simmilar in the new codex is to use drop pods instead of rhinos and razorbacks this would allow you to deep strike, plus if you have vanguard vets (the new close combat veterans as opposed to the sternguard which are the ranged combat specialists) the vanguard can drop in using deepstrike with their jump packs and they can assault the turn that they land (heroic intervention) but apart from that the only units that are able to infiltrate are scouts (to be honest i could never see a suit of power armous being stealthy anyway i mean think of all the whiring and the gears and such, would be makeing quite a bit of noise that you would hope wwould be picked up by surveyillance systems,) hope thsi helps,
