I played in a tourney with my BT and the guys re rolling wounds with power swords ripped it up, so you might want to add some of those to your initiate squads. Also in the tourney I played to hold any objective you needed a troop choice, i'm not sure if BT have a FAQ saying they can use combat squad tactics or not? But if not then you might need a 5 man with a havy weapon to be the campers. Also the emperor's champion sadly (sometimes goodly) doesn't use up a HQ slot, so you need a cheap chaplin or something for that.. Love the assault termies though, rerolling will give anyone hell!

maybe drop lascannons, go with plasma to lower cost..... lose drop pod and hook up termies with the redeemer which will allow a captain of sorts
but seriously, im using two codex's here, which one should i follow the new 5th or the old Black Templar?

I would go with the current BT codex, the reason everybody is saying they are getting nerfed is because they take everything from their codex not the 5th edition SM one. If you are using the old old armageddon codex then you need to find a copy of the newest one out, I think its mostly stand alone. I don't remember seeing devastators being able to be taken by BT either, which is something that I'll go look at after tea...So there are some free points...
Well as a huge black templer fan...i have to say you may not use the new codex in any way for our army. Dark angels , blood angels, BT, and space wolves are seperate armies and have thier own rules. I know its sad....but no cross codex use unless gw says we can.
i also checked out the BT and you are correct Darkness, no D squads *cries*
true, but you get good heavies and what not. Besides BT are CC, not shooters.
and BT codex is stand alone, so no mixing and matching to my knowlege, i can re-read my BT codex in a bit.
UNLESS you are running allies, in which you would need both a BT HQ and 2 Troop and a SM HQ and 2 troop, and other restrictions that are stupid at times.
Had a friend who ran allies with the BT because he hated Emporers Champions...took WH for the asassin

Though you don't need to take a marshal or chappy as an HQ (your Emporers champion will do just fine) you should take a marshall to make sure your units don't fall back from shooting as even one wound forces a moral check.
It says in the FAQ that the though the Emporers champion does not require a slot he is sufficient as the HQ for the minimum requirement. It doesn't make sense but it does work in the most recent FAQ.
Also furious charge on thunderhammer terminators is wasted...str9 vs 8 doesn't matter that much, and the initive doesn't really help. Also the advantage of Black Templar is that they can still take 2 assault cannons in a five man termy squad, you should put that to use if you are planning on using all strength doubling weapons you might as well use powerfists, and get the shooting bonus (especially as I think we need the anit transport fire).

ok guys, purely BT codex and a little reformatting... let me have it
god i hate doing this...ummmmmm..you cannot use a redeamer...its not in your codex
also....you need more troops....since you cannot combat squad, you either need bigger squads.....or more of them. All that has to be done to you is to wipe out your two troops and he can win the game. Also...in a 1750 army..one group 0f termies will do...i recomend removing the assult squads....but, put everyone in drop pods...and drop nasty templer goodness on the heritics heads. Remember...you get to run in the assult fase...then when shot at the next turn.....you basicaly charge d6 inches....then in your turn....you can either charge them...or since your a templer and in the codex it says that when you move after your shot..that you can count it as a charge..but no attack bonus. You can do what no other unit in the game can do. Also...get rid of the missle luncher in the squad....give them a flamer or melta gun and a powerfist.
for assult terminators....put them in a crusader...give them lighting claws..and get rid of the marshal....yes leadership 10 is awesome for everyone...however rolling up on a unit with 6 termies and a chaplin in termi armor...scares people to death especially with a landraider crusader. ork players hate those things,And will do whatever they can to destroy them
