Upcoming tournament with a twist. Players are allowed to either take one super heavy as two heavy choices, or 1 extra unit anywhere on the FOChart. I will be faceing a lot of armor (I know someone has a titan, but don't know if I will play it). Here is the list:
Captain w/ power weapon 115
Master of the Forge w/ conversion beamer 120
Dreadnought w/ plasma cannon 115
Dreadnought w/ twin-linked lascannon, missile launcher 145
Ironclad Dreadnought w/ hurricane bolter, heavy flamer, drop pod 175
Tactical Squad w/ 10 members, flamer, missile launcher, power fist 195
Tactical Squad w/ 10 members, flamer, heavy bolter 170
Tactical Squad w/ 10 members, meltagun, multi-melta, power weapon,drop pod 225
Scout Squad w/ 5 members, 4 sniper rifles, heavy bolter 85
Land Speeder w/ assault cannon 90
Land Raider 250
Two drop pods are designed to take out the opponents high str weapons. If they have tanks I drop the tac squad next to them, and if they have infantry the ironclad.
The captain gets in the land raider with the power fisted tac squad and advances with the melta dreads.
The plasma dread and the laz dread stay back with the master of the forge and the scouts and make a fire base.

Hmm... I'd use that extra FOC slot to really push this list and add another dreadnaught if you can. Maybe instead of the speeder? I just have this happy mental image of all the dreadnaughts plowing up one side of the table and sqaushing everything in reach.
I'd also think about getting one more drop pod. That way 2 will definately arrive in the first turn and I'd make that a Tac squad AND a dread. That's a tough combo to have to cope with turning up on your doorstep, especially if the pods are lobbing deathwind missiles around too.
No more NG spearmen, thanks! Now I need some pump-wagons!
Heh, I wish. I went out and got 6 dreads for the new rules, but I don't think I can justify buying another just for the occasion when I get an extra slot. I figured that as long as whatever I added had an armor value it would be good enough.
I will have to see about squeezing in another pod. Dunno where I would get the points for it tho.
