An infantry platoon is one troop choice, all three to seven squads in it. This, unfortunately, means your going to have to drop something(s) for a second platoon, or drop the platoon for two small squads of grenadiers and some special weapons. Also, the Master vox is useless without vox in the individual squads (and a vox network is generally considered overpriced sub-2000 games, from what I've read)

Lascannons work better in a dedicated anti-tank squad, in general opinion (your not wasting 18 possible lasgun shots, only 6), the other heavy weapons, except for mortars, work well in line squads.

    Second Try.....

Thanks for the reply...I did some rethinking. Hopefully this meets the troop requirement.

Iron Discipline, Close Order Drill, Drop Troops (just in case)

    Command Platoon: 229
HQ: JO, HO, ID, Pwr Wp, Surv, Plasma Pistol
    Plasma Gun, Banner, Medic
    Anti-Tank Support Squad: Lascannon

    Iron Fist Squad: 189
Vet Sgt, Plasma Pistol, Missile Launcher, Plasma Gun
Chimera, Multi Laser, Heavy Bolter, Smoke

    Infantry Platoon: 255
HQ: JO, ID, Pwr Wp, Plasma Pistol
    Missile Launcher, Plasma Gun
Squad 1 & 2: Plasma Gun, Missile Launcher

    Heavy: 316
2 Leman Russ Tanks, Heavy Bolters, Smoke

It's not so much a 'Heavy' army anymore, but I thought I should round it out a bit so I could use it as a base for future larger armies. I took the Anti-tank supports instead of the Basilisk for specific anti-tank use. I am also considering replacing the 2 inf squad missile launchers with heavy bolters. Aside from that, I was going to use the IF squad for objectives, or flanking.

    What do you think?

right not bad but a few changes need to be made

    1. surveyor isn't needed tbh
    2. smokes on russ arent needed.
    3. the plasma on the vet in the armoured fist squad isn't the best of choices.
    4. Drop the missile laucnher in the command squad of the platoon either a heavy wepaon or special weapons. perhaps also move the plas pistol to a plasma gunner in that squad the Jo is needed for LD to a certain extent. Someone aorund here said that a plasma pistol should only go on a character with more than one wound which seems about right to me!

now what to use these points on.
    1. extra armour for tanks starting with the chimera, very useful stuff to have never leave home without it personally.
    2. pintle stubber on the chimera is also a good option for extra firepower on the move.
    3. with a few more points you could get a remnant squad for the platoon with a special weapon or even a small vet squad.

Not a bad list though it has dense amount sof high powered wepaons. be careful about how you use your troops as they have limited expendability with a set up like this. Anyway Good luck!

    Hope that helps

    Good suggestions....

Thanks for the good suggestions. I made some more changes and sort of ballanced out my army a bit. I added in storm troopers instead of Veterans, just for some fluff (I like the Karskin models. Also, looking at the price of the special weapons blister packs, I thought I'd start out with a few less plasmaguns. See what you guys think. I also took out my medic, since I thought I'd add him in once I have a more active HQ unit (ie power fist and such.)

Iron Discipline, Close Order Drill, Storm Troopers

    Command Platoon: 207
HQ: JO, HO, ID, Bolt Pistol, Auto Cannon, Banner
    Anti-Tank Support Squad: Lascannon

    Iron Fist Squad: 201
Vet Sgt, Storm Bolter, Missile Launcher, Plasma Gun
Chimera, Multi Laser, Heavy Bolter, Smoke, Pintle Heavy Stubber, Extra Armour

    Infantry Platoon: 200
HQ: JO, ID, Bolt Pistol, Grenade Launcher, Heavy Bolter
    Squad 1: Grenade Launcher
    Squad 2: Grenade Launcher

    Storm Troopers: 72

Vet Stm Trp Sgt, 4 Stm Trp, 1 Meltagun, Flamer

    Heavy: 320
2 Leman Russ Tanks, Heavy Bolters, Extra Armour

    Total: 1000 points
