Ok so I have battle coming up this Sunday and I will be playing against the Tau in a predetermined scenario (Take and Hold). This is my List:
Command Platoon- 177
Heroic Senor Officer-177
Meltagun + Flamer
Medic + Master Vox
Infantry Platoon Alpha-297
Medic + vox Caster
Squad Alpha Major-80
Squad Bravo Major-80
Remnant Squad Charlie Major-29
Infantry Platoon Bravo-302
-Frag and Krak Grenades
Medic + Vox Caster
Squad Alpha Minor-75
Squad Bravo Minor-90
Squad Charlie Minor-90
My opponent wont have many tanks but he will a good amount of Battle suits that is why I am using a sort of gun line tactic ( Plus the fact that I am playing against an opponent with less experience than me). So any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Vox network is overpriced so i'd lose it, power fists are also overpriced take power swords, refractor fields are way overpriced so drop them, remenant squads need a sergeant AND 4 men they don't need a vet sarg so you don't need to pay the extra points. You have a flamer and meltagun in your command squad, choose two of one type IG armies have enough squads that they dont each need to be flexible. A medic in a 5 man squad against tau won't do enough to be worth the points.
You need to pay a doctrine point for ratlings and you have two extra so why not take drop troops and close order drill. Give the main command squad a standard as the leadership bonuses are very useful. put some special weapons in those infantry squads and you should do fine.
Best of luck.
IG Best Gen 1st overall of 10 DE 4th overall of 6
Eldar 3rd Overall/Best General of 26--2nd Overall/Best General of 7--1st Overall/Best General of 11
totally agree with Kevin here. Take drop troops and drop dem guard on the tau. Typically ignore any close-combat orientated units (basically all the kroot) and assault the fire warriors when possible (they seriously suck at combat) this should make your job really esay. With anything yu haven't drop trooped get the objectives for an easy win.
yeah, as sucky as imperial guard are in combat, tau are worse (yes they are that bad)
