Again I go about prospective space marine lists. I'll give a quick rundown after the list.
Librarian - Questionable Psychic powers - 100
10x Sternguard - 5 Combi-Meltas - 310
2x10 Tactical Marines - Power Weapon, Flamer - 410
2x Drop pod
1x10 Tactical Marines - Power Weapon, Flamer, Lascannon - 235
Whirlwind - XX
Thunder Fire Cannon - XXX
Devastator Squad - 4 Lascannons - 230
Ok, the basic rundown. The libby deep strikes first turn with the Sternguard. I don't have them geared towards combat, so I would assume I should take Gate of Infinity to keep them out of cc. I don't know what other psychic power I should take off the top of my head. These guys will remove tanks and infantry units as much as possible.
The second tac squad will will bolster their attempts as needed, or drop to an objective.
The third tac squad will be deployed separate from the Razorback which will provide mobile cover for the combat oriented combat squad (flamer and power weapon). The shooty half will aid in more tank hunting.
The whirlwind and the TFC will provide horde control as well as forced failed armor saves. Obviously the devastator squad will be tank hunting.
Currently, the only changes that I have composition wise are:
Replace the Whirlwind and 3 combi-meltas with a second TFC
What do you guys think? Do you think this list should be competitive friendly or not?

HQ: Nice and cheap. Give him gate of course and the 5+ invulnerable power to keep the stermguard alive. Cast the 5+ power each turn unless you spot a fantastic deepstrike opportunity or need to pop out of combat fast.
Troops: Squads 1 & 2 should take a MM each just in case. You can still move and fire the bolt pistol most of the time but having the MM gives a good alternative for that special occasion. Squad 3 is good.
Heavy: I'm not keen on thunderfires as they are quite vulnerable. The WW is ok but I think you need vindicators for a bit more punch. The devastators are very poor. For an extra 20 points replace them for 5 attack bikes with multimeltas. These have the same wounds, more toughness and an extra heavy weapon. Most importantly they can move 12" and fire making the AP1 MM a devastating tank hunting weapon.

I know that the bikes can be devastating, they're in my spacewolf army... I'd like to not repeat the same tactics with different colors...
My buddies who I've talked to about the list think that podding the sternguard is a bad idea. I feel that it allows me to take out threats in the beginning of the game. Would a rhino be more beneficial to them? I just think that it has a higher chance of failing to get them to their destination in one piece...
