Hi, I've just started with the marines (longtime Ork player who picked up an Assault on Blackreach box or two ^_^), and this is my first real attempt at a list:
Pedro Kantor
Dread w/multi-melta, storm bolter, drop pod
8 Sternguard veterans, rhino (Pedro goes here)
10 Sternguard veterans, drop pod
10 Tac Marines w/multi-melta, powerfist, meltagun, rhino
10 Scouts w/sniper rifles
10 Assault Marines w/power fist, 2 flamers
On first turn, the dread drops in next to the enemy and distracts them, while the Vindicator rolls up, with the rhinos and assault marines following behind. Eventually the outflanking scouts and deep striking sternguard (in the drop pod) pick on vulnerable units and/or go for objectives.

General Observation- If you're using Pedro and doing a Rhino Rush style assault, I'd go with more Sternguards, they are better at shooting and melee (especially with Pedro Around) than your vanilla Marines. Also, you don't have to use 9 Sternguards to fit Pedro in the Drop Pod, it transports 12 IIRC. In my experience Sternguards like Rhinos better than drop pods, being within spitting range of your opponent who will probably be packing a rough melee unit isn't overly appealing, but the rhino lets you dictate where and when you fight other than just a 1-hit-wonder.

That certainly makes sense. I've changed the list so there's now 2 rhinos full of sternguard (I only have 2 rhinos at this point, otherwise I'd give one to all 3 units). The sternguard unit without one will hang back and perhaps claim an objective.
FYI: Pedro makes Sternguard units count as scoring units, he doesn't turn them into a Troop selection. They're still Elites, which means you don't have a legal force, seeing as you only have one real Troop choice.
