I am brand new to the 40k Universe, must say awesome. Am starting my Space Marine Army and want to play competively at 1000pts. I love the Space Marine Story, and am using the Ultramarines. Now a question, I LOVE the look of the Dark Angel Veterans, so I wanted to take those, and paint them in the Ultramarine Blue and Gold. Would this be allowed at a tourney? Hope so. Here is the list I have come up with so far.
120 pts Chaplain- Master of Sanctity, Jump Pack (Will lead the Assault Squad)
100 pts 5x Veterans- 4 Bolters, 1 Multi-Melta, Furious Charge
160 pts 10x Tactical Squad- 9 Bolters, 1 Rocket Launcher
150 pts 10x Tactical Squad- All Bolters
150 pts 10x Tactical Squad- All Bolters
95 pts 5x Scouts - 4 Sniper Rifles, 1 Rocket Launcher
220 pts 10x Assault Squad- 1x Sergeant
Now was wondering is this a sound army? Will be playing all armies. Wondering if a tank heavey IG army would cause me problems. Also is this legal? Thanks for your time and help.
Also If I play at 1500 is it reasonable to add 2 Predator Destructors with Lascannon sponsons for 250pts? Or whats your take on tanks? I feel like they get shaken to easy.
If you want a Deathwing or Ravenwing list then choose the dark angel codex. If you want a mostly power armour army then use the standard space marine codex as many of your units will be cheaper. You can still use dark angel robed marines in a normal SM army.

Quorn! - Protein for the Protein God.
you need to get some more heavy support. It only takes one huge melee carnifix with a 2+ armor sv to just run around anywhere it wants
Looks to me like your using the old codex.
Consider getting the new one.
As for Dark Angels Veterans. You can of course use the models to count as veterans (Sternguard or Vanguard in the new codex)
If I was you I would get the new dex and consider giving the Sgts in your squads power weapons or power fists, as well as adding more special and/or heavy weapons into your tactical squads.
Lascannon sponsons are a lot more expensive in the new codex, but you could do with some more anti-tank stuff so its up to you.
Arch Overfiend & Grand Despot
I currently play:
Doom Eagle Space Marines
Hive Fleet Omega Tyranids
Goff Ork Boyz(dead)
Tau of O'me
Inquisitorial Xeno Hunters
and my attempted foray into fantasy
'Dark Angel Green' Dark Elves in need of fluff
Thanks for your replies, I have ordered the new codex, and will try a new list once that arrives. But if I am reading right I can use my existing Dark Angel Vets (I have 10 Already, love the robes) as a sternguard vet? Thanks for all of your time!
By the way for what its worth in the new dex's tactical squads get rockets and flamers for free, so if you don't have many points to spare then just take them. This will also help with the anti-tank thing.

Do I have to take a Sgt in every squad? I would sometimes prefer to keep a bolter instead of the Sgt. Or is there a rule against that? In an actually game I feel like my SM's will be moving most of the time so I will rarely get to fire with the Rocket Launcher. From your experience does this happen? Or do your Marines stand still long enough for the Rocket Launcher to get some serious damage in? Thanks!
Armies: 40k: Imperial Guard, Orks Fantasy: Skaven
If i remember correctly then you can take a bolter on your sergeant. It is better to keep the sergeant even if you give him the bolter as he has extra attack then normal marines. I think you do have to take a sergeant anyway as it says "4 marines and 1 sergeant" or words to that effect.
It looks like this list may have been built from a 4th ed codex. I would recommend keep in the vet sgt. I would also suggest a meltagun or two for anti armor work or swap out a missile launcher for a lascannon for more oomph. A 5 man devastator squad might be worth adding at some point.
I LOVE the smell of promethium in the morning!
