    1850pts Salamanders 1st try...

After reading what fluff there is about the Salamanders and reading up on their Combat Doctrine, they seem to fit the type of army I'd like to try. I wanted to create a list that was fluffy, but also took advantage of the bonuses from Vulkan. I wouldn't mind it being competitive either .

How's this look? I'm kind of torn on keeping the Ironclad Dreadnought and Vindicator, but I think they add some flexibility to the list. I also couldn't decide on using the Redeemer or Crusader. Any thoughts on this? I could also knock the third Tactical Squad back to the free weapons and add a power weapon to the Sternguard. Oh...and I was considering replacing a Rhino or two with a Razorback. I'd combat squad them and leave the heavy back for fire suppurt. Thanks!

Tactical Squad - 10 w/ Plasma Cannon, Plasmagun and Rhino [220]

    Elite
Ironclad Dreadnought w/ Seismic Hammer (built in Meltagun), Dreadnought Close Combat weapon w/ Heavy Flamer and Drop Pod [180]
    Sternguard - 10 w/ 2 x Combi-Meltas and Drop Pod [270]

Terminator Assault Squad – 5 w/ Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield [200]

    Heavy
    Land Raider Crusader w/ Multi-Melta [260]
    Vindicator w/ Dozer Blade [120]

Id go Redeemer + Multi Melta and a few more combi meltas for the sternguard. The reason for the redeemer being it shoots fire and you seem to be going all firey melta death.
    I came, I typo'd, I editted
Orc / Empire / Deamon WFB (indecisive)
Crimson Fists approaching 10 undefeated at 1500

Cool thanks! The Redeemer certainly fits. Any idea if the Combi-Melta will count as twin-linked when the melta portion is fired? I'm under the impression it does. In the description of what a combi-weapon is, it mentions each weapon the Bolter, Flamer and Meltagun.

What do you all feel about Razorbacks in this army instead of the Rhinos?

Does it the list look competitive?

Yeah, the combi's are one shot for the melta or flamer but vulcan makes them twin linked

As for the Rhino comment its hard to judge. The multi meltas will usually have to move to get within 24 inches. If you want razorbacks id consider giving the ppl missile launchers (boo hiss lack of fluff).

As for Vulcan the ppl in the local store made an imba if expensive model.

    Techmarine Body (new style)
    Grey knight Terminator Halbard
Grey knight Terminator Storm bolter (convert this into the heavy flamer)
Green stuff sculpted cloak (going over the storm bolter arms iconography)

I use Crimson Fists with a 10 man squad dropping in turn one. They are lethal but they die alot remember you can drop in then combat squad on the turn they land. So if u land half way between a tank and a squad put all the combi meltas into one squad and trhe normals into the other so u can try to shake or destroy the tank and then.

You could also consider dropping the Dreadnaught and adding 2 attack bikes with multimeltas (counting as twin linked ) and landspeeder with heavy flamer and Multi Melta (again both twin linked ^^).

As for the list = Id say it has potential but it isnt as cheesey as some "competative" lists you will see

I like the sound of that conversion a lot! The new Techmarine model is awesome. I plan on including one at some point for more fluff.

I dropped the Vindicator and added 2 Attack Bikes. I also added some Combi-Meltas to the Tactical Squads, another Drop Pod, and replaced the Meltagun on the Ironclad for a Heavy Flamer. I didn't realize the new drop pod rule, so added the third so that the Ironclad and Sternguard could drop together.

All these Salamander Lists seem fine so I'll comment on the ltest one...

    HQ: Of course

Elites: both good. Have you thought about using combi flamers here and kitting out the tac squads with meltas and combi meltas to make up for it. Quad flamers and some special ammo bolters to finnish off anyone still standing can be daevastating.
Ironclad dread should keep the meltagun.

Troops: I would prefer meltas and combiflamers as I think flamers rarely fire more than once a battle.

    Fast: Perfect

Heavy: I think the LRR is a far better transport with more impact after it has delivered the passengers.

Thanks for the critique. I've changed a few things around for review.

Terminator Assault Squad – 5 w/ Thunder Hammer and Storm Shield [200]

    Heavy
    Land Raider Redeemer w/ Multi-Melta [250]

    Total 1850

Here's one more list I'm considering. It can be brought up to 2000pts by adding a Chaplin in Terminator Armor and a third Attack Bike w/ Multi-Melta. The Chaplin would ride with the second Terminator Assault Squad.
