Welcome to Librarium Online!
I have been pondering this for a while, as I really love drop pods, so here goes with my pod suggestion...any advice is greatly appreciated:
10 Sternguard w/ power fist, 2 x combi melta's and drop pod with locator beacon:
Dreadnought w/ multimelta and pod:
Dreadnought w/ multimelta and poc:
10 Tactical marines with power weapon, flamer and plasma gun, + pod:
10 Tactical marines with power weapon, flamer and ML, + pod:
Land Raider Redeemer w/ multi-melta:
My tactics would be to drop the Sternguard with Pedro, a dread and a Tac squad on turn one into the enemy lines and shoot them to bits. The Redeemer would patrol my deployment zone. I would then pod the remaining tac squad and dread onto my home objective (into the enemy lines in annihilation).
So what think ye, the good citizens of LO of such a plan? Any advice on loadouts would be appreciated - I feel I should have another Tactical Squad somewhere? But don't want to be left without enough heavy support...
Cheers in advance for all replies!!
hmm.... one of your tactical squads has a flamer and a plasma gun. I'm guessing you meant plasma cannon otherwise it wouldn't be a legal squad.
Also, sense you have 25 points left over, you may as well spend it to give the Land raider extra armor and maybe give it a storm bolter if you have the bits for it.
Yup, meant cannon, oops - not sure how that affects the points...will have to check...thanks for the reply...
Normally I'd be iffy on just having the land raider running around by itself, but with the new drop pod assault rules it wont be alone on turn one. Problem is, if you don't go first, it will be alone during your oponents first turn, which could be really bad if you are fighting a shooty army like tau.
Other ideas with the 25 extra points, if you expect your oponents to use a lot of armor you could add more combi-meltas for the stern gaurd. It looks like you might use them to tank hunt when they first drop and I've seen two melta fail to stop armor many times, especialy in 5th. Might need at least one or two more to insure you do at least something.
But then again, both your dreadnoughts have meltas so its really up to you and what you expect your army to face.
