Hey there! I'm a kinda warhammer 40k noob who really would like some help with starting a space marine army. First of all the Drop Pods really caught my eye and I would be very intrested in perhaps building a "small" drop pod based army (around 1000pt something if it's possible).
So, the drop pod/deep strike armies seem pretty interesting but... so does the dreadnoughts and terminators. I'm a big fan of the space marine terminators and dreadnoughts so here comes the tricky question to you all:
Is it legally possible to build an Drop Pod army based on mostly Dreads OR termis?
I haven't bought the new Codex yet (shame on me, yes...) but I would really like to know before if it's possible to build an (mostly) all terminator/dreadnought army list.
I would also consider a SW or BA army list based on drop pods if my suggestion of many termis and dreads is illegal.
thank you in advance
You still need your two troops - and with 1000 points you won't get a lot of drop pods with terminators in after that and a HQ. Maybe 2, tops.
It might be viable, but would work better with 1500 points.
Your best bet is grabbing the 'dex and putting together a 1500-2000 points list. You could use a Master of the Forge and fill your Heavy Support slots with Dreads, and then use Terminators in your Elites slots, while still keeping with the 2 troops choices. Just a thought.
