    2000 Old into New

    OK - it probably doesn't cut it yet, but what do you think so far?

    Principal opponents are Orks or Dark Eldar - maybe the odd Tyranid but no Marine Armies.

    Its generally designed to be fluffy (I think.....)

    HQ: Not too expensive. With the mortar you can stay out of LOS so the medic could be replaced for carapace or cammo cloaks to keep them alive. Vox networks are a bit of a waste so I would drop the lot. Take a banner to reroll morale tests.

    Elites: Storm troops are too expensive. If you really want them at least drop the special weapons as they make you pay more points to get a less useful weapon.

    Troops: Again drop the medics and vox networks. All these points saved can buy you an extra platoon command. Redundancy makes up for survivability and rerolls. Squads look good. Spec weapons look poor as foot slogging guardsmen with flamers won't get a shot. If you put the platoon commands in chimeras then also give the platoon commands 3 flamers and use them as counterattack units while in early turns they get the command vehicle and some protection.

    Fast: Drop the sentinels for chimeras with a HF and ML. These get better armour and passenger capacity and can sit tight firing the turret at range then rush forewards to use the HF on the hull.

    Havy: Hellhounds and Leman russ can ditch extra armour. Taking 3 chimeras will dilute enemy anti tank fire and keep your other tanks around for longer.

    So 10pts left over.

    I wonder about stripping out the extra armour as advised plus the characters and stormtroopers and sentinels and getting more Russes - but I think that might dilute the character a bit?
