I've decided to build a mechanized Marines list that should be at least able to win a few Games. I#m pretty new to WH40k so any advice would be helpful.
Terminator Squad 450
Tactical Squad #1 230
Tactical Squad #2 230
Scout Squad 85
Vindicator #1 125
Vindicator #2 125
This is what i've come up with...
The strategy would be to speed into the enemy breaking his line with teh vindicators while the dread and the LR go tankhunting. The termies should bind enemy Anti-Tank Infantry while the Troops go after the objectives and standard infantry.
Now is your turn critique and suggestions are welcome! I'm pretty unsure wether this list can survive in Turneys or not.
Buy your captain some stuff. The poor blokes is going into battle with less equipment than his sergeants ;-) Relic blades are damn awesome, although expensive.
Other than that this looks pretty effective, just don't expect your dreadnaught to survive more than a turn after you drop it! Venerable is an excellent upgrade for them, and kept mine alive last night in the middle of the enemy army until the end of the game.
Again Realitycheque has the word.
Why not use a Chaplain or Librarian instead. They are better armed and more useful than a naked Captain.
I'd not take a Librarian without Terminator Armour, but Lord Ramon makes an excellent point in that a Chaplain - while having 1 less wound and attack - does come with a free power weapon and makes the squad he's with fearless.
Also a chaplain allows rerolls to your squad when you charge.
Furthermore I would skip the landraider and terminators, they are way to costly for a small game of 1500pts.
Instead buy some venerable dreads for anti tank purpuses. (twin linked lascannons and missile lauhcners)
And maby a few assault marines to deal with the enemys anti tank infantry.
That Terminator squad is a big points sink. For that price I'd be tempted to go for a fully tooled-up ten-man Assault Squad and another squad of Scouts in a Landspeeder Storm.
I'd also try and find a role for the Captain to play, use him to bolster a weak area of your army - as it is he seems a bit of a waste. Perhaps give him a Jump Pack and a relic blade?
This is just me trying to find something constructive to say; I do believe you could do quite well with this list how it is.
