Hey all I am pretty new to 40k (only played 2 games) and I want to play in a tournament setting where I will be facing unknown armies/lists/people. So I wanted some help making a list this is what I have so far, I am using the plain space marine codex so please go ahead and be critical on it.
Space Marine Chapter Master W/ Artificer Armor, Relic Blade, accompanied by: X4 Honour Guard W/ X2 auxiliary grenade launcher, Chapter Banner, Champion has relic blade, and grenade launcher
X1 Dreadnought W/ Assualt cannon, CCW
X5 Terminator Squad W/ Cyclone Missile Launcher, Land Raider
X5 Scout W/ Camo Cloaks, Sniper Rifles, Melta bombs (sergeant)
X10 Tactical squad W/ Plasmagun, Missile Launcher
X10 Tactical squad W/ Flamer, Heavy Bolter
X1 Predator W/ Extra Armor, Heavy Bolter Sponsons
X1 Preadtor W/ Extra Armor, Lascannon Turret, Lascannon Sponsons
X1 Vindicator W/ Siege Shield
So thats my army list again I dont really know much about 40k so any feedback and help is appreciated.
I'd knock the Chapter Master down to a Captain and the Honour Guard down to a Command Squad and you'll have the points for a Landspeeder Squad!
Other than that, pretty varied list. Should do well - two Predators and a Vindicator, ouch.
Well, you've got a lot of Heavy support and a bunch of hard-as-nails units, but I imagine you're going to have a tough time getting them to the right place on the table. I'd get some transports for your tac squads and maybe drop the Honor Guards to make points for it. The Chapter Master can run with a Tac Squad or the termies. Also, I don't know if the Termies will make much use of the Cyclone if they're being transported--something to think about.
HQ: Where is their transport? They are so powerful and relatively easy to kill that they need a land raider really. Because of the cost I would follow alvenom's advice.
Elites: The termies can do without a transport otherwise you will only ever fire the cyclone once as you disembark. Dread is ok.
Troops: Move the meltabomb from the scouts to a tac sarge. I have never seen enemy tanks drive to within 6" of sniper scouts for them to considder assaulting. I would considder a rhino or two for the TAC squads or use razorbacks and combat squad them.
Heavy: drop extra armour. Get 2 preds with AC/2LC each. Vindicator is great.
