2000pt IG static force (rough draft)

So buying the new codex was a bit inconvenient. I noticed they did away with the doctrines but added massive ordnance battery lists, and made room for leman russ battle squadrons.... It was total eye candy looking at the new army roster... I decided to futz around with a sheer rough draft. My goal for this list is to be able to have something to tweek around with. Kinda was wondering how to represent my catachans...So I went totally ape and inducted them into a cadian force and decided to repaint them.

    Insight on deciding:

I kinda wanted a well rounded buffed out force with a focus to some point. i wanted half and half of anti tank,
and anit - infantry. I split my force with missile launchers / heavy bolters / snipers. For further support against
tanks I decided to throw in a roving sentinel squadron and a valkryie vendetta with missle pods.

Dubbed righteously "Platoon Daemonicles" Warring in the gulf sector and the ghost stars, these guys really
know how to kick it. I've had astounding success in pretty much every advisary I've come against but painfully loose against necrons. UGH! scourges!

Platoon Daemonicles is an experienced urban fighting force. Loaded with all the tools of the trade.

HQ: Drop the plasma pistol, PF, Medic, Cammo cloaks(you are in a tank!), bodyguards and extra armour. This fres up enough points to buy another command HQ or an entire veteran squad!

Troops: PHQ should drop stuff similar to above. Platoon standards suck. regi standards can only be taken in the company HQ.
Infantry squads are ok but drop krak grenades. I only see one troop choice at the moment, perhapse change one chimera squad to a veteran squad.
Special weapon squads can only take 3 special weapons, have you thought about ratlings instead?

Fast: If the sentinels have multilasers swap them for chimeras that cost the same, have simmilar armour and an extra heavy bolter. They can of course also carry troops.
Vendetta should have 3 TL Lascannon and possibly add the sponson HBs too.

Heavy: I like them without sponsons but it's up to you depending on remaining points.

CCS and PCS: These guys aren't built for combat so don't bother. Go nuts on the special weapons (meltas and plasma for the CCS, yay BS4, flamers or grenades on the PCS) and throw them in a Chimera. Add advisors to taste (not bodyguards).

Infantry: Don't need krak grenades or Commissars. If you want to kill tanks, just use lascannons for 5 points more. HBs are ok, but I prefer autocannons to down light vehicles too.

Are those snipers supposed to be ratlings or what? SWS only get 3.

Heavy Weapons teams are begging to get blown away, and it isn't hard to kill them.

You only have 1 Troops choice? Grab some Vets in Chimeras, they're great.

    Armored Sentinels are disappointing.

A single Vendetta isn't going to do much, take a pair at least (don't squadron).

Squadrons are bad, they make your vehicles easier to destroy and force you to shoot the same target. Split the Russes up. Give the Demos multi-meltas to threaten armor or plasma to blast infantry.

You did splurge on those command squads, strip them to the bare essentials and you free up a lot of points. Swap the HWS for more infantry and you can pick up 2-3 Vet Squads, either mounted in Chimeras or Vendettas.

Vet squads in Valkyries? That's a stroke of sheer brilliance.... I'll keep that in mind.

    Heck should i just have
    -medic
    -vox caster
    -2 snipers

    In my command squads instead?

Okay for my sniper squads I ment guardsmen instead of ratlings, thats totally going to get changed to 3 each.

And lastly, how do you only see one troops choice? Obviously im not getting something.

You only have one troops choice; an infantry platoon.

Read the text next to the asterisk at the bottom of page 97, Codex Imperial Guard.

A Chimera is superior protection to a medic, and you'll get some more armor and guns in the process.

And an infantry platoon only counts as 1 Troops choice.

    troops selection revised

Heres a Revision of my troops choices. I'll go back and fix other things up Once I get this figured
    out.

    [Platoon Comand Delta]
    -Officer
    -Power fist
    -Power sword
    3x snipers
    Commisar

    PLATOON DEAMONICLES
    Squad Alpha:
    - Missile Launcher
    - Gernade Launcher
    -Krak gernades

    Squad Beta:
    -Missile Launcher
    -Gernade Launcher
    -Krak gernades

    VETERAN SQUAD
    -TRANSPORT: Valkryie Vendetta gunship

    [Platoon Command Pathfinder]
    -Officer
    - Power fist
    - Power sword
    3x snipers
    Commisar

    PLATOON PATHFINDER [MOBILE RECON]
    Squad Cherion:
    -Heavy bolter
    -Flamer
    TRANSPORT CHIMERA

    Squad Cherion:
    -Heavy bolter
    -Flamer
    -Power fist
    TRANSPORT CHIMERA

    VETERAN SQUAD
    -Transport: Valkryie Vendetta Gunship

I guess I kind of figured I wanted platoon pathfinder to be a mobile reconnasance kinda deal. I can scrap
other points from somewhere else. What do you guys think? I opted to split up the valkryies instead, from
other advice given. I just want to focus on troops right now. What should the veterans get?

Remember that Valks are not dedicated transports, they come from Fast Attack.

I'd avoid Commissars and krak grenades. Commissars stick you in combat, so you can't get orders out and you die horribly. Krak grenades are just iffy, you will rarely get a chance to use them. For tank busting, lascannon > missile launcher.

If you want infantry in Chimeras, Vets end up better. More special weapons and BS4 come up big here, for only a few points more.

Give the Vets in Valks meltaguns to pop tanks.

Yeah I kinda figured. It seems like this is going to turn out to be an infantry wave army. I'll go back to the
    drawing board tonight.

    -THX for the help
