    2000 Mechanized Guard

Hello, here is a mechanized guard list I've been thinking of over the past couple weeks, basically what I do not want to put in my lists are Vendettas and Valkyries, I know they are the best fast attack, but I wanted to try something different.

The basic setup around my list is that the Company Command Squad sets up in a good firing position ( I still haven't really tried to wrap my head around orders yet) the ratling snipers don't really seem to fit into the list (anyone have any better suggestions for an elites choice?) but they set up in cover and stay there the whole game.

The veteran squads set up on any objectives they can or they setup to where they can drive in they're chimera during the 4th or 5th turn. The melta veteran squad is too take out any transports with assault units in them.

The devil dogs In my opinion are the superior hellhound, they get the low AP of the chem cannon, the anti horde of the inferno cannon (the free heavy flamer) and then the ability to take out tanks and groups of heavy infantry at a 12 inch movement and 24 range radius. So basically they move around and use they're melta cannon, but if needed they can also use they're heavy flamers.

Armoured Sentinels, they're a bit expensive. But they're deploy into cover fire they're plasma cannons.

The Leman Russ battle tanks set up at the back of the board with the Colossus behind them, The Colossus seems like a nice choice as cover saves are so common in 5th edition.

    Please feel to comment.

Very sexy! However, I think it's a tad on the elite side. My biggest criticism is your inability to win objective games. Veterans are nice, but are still T3 Sv5+. Chimeras will help keep them alive, sure, but Chimeras are not invulnerable. As we all know the 5th edition trend is toward mechanized lists so everybody brings plenty of anti-transport weapons to a game and once those Chimeras are scrapped you're done for.

I would advise you to find the points to fit in another mechanized Veteran squad and get some Camo Cloaks on the Chimeras.

I'd lose the collosus for a medusa. The collossus still has a pretty big miminal range and the only thing you will be losing is the barrage. And you still can use it the way you plan to use your collossus because all you really need is the medusa to be 50% behind cover.

Looks solid. I'd say the Collussus vs. Medusa is a toss up, it depends on how you want to do the Vets. Swap out for a couple more meltas and the Colussus can stick around, otherwise pick up a Medusa for some decent ranged tankbusting.

Armored Sentinels are really expensive and Ratlings may not fit in as your only foot unit.

I didnt even see that. But yes they are very expensive and the points can be spent more wisely.

I agree on the sentinels, These boys are cool but they are SO expensive. If you dropped these boys down to tank-busting lascannon equiped scout sentinels with camo you'd save 75pts.

Which if you lost the ratlings (who don't really seem to fit the mechanised theme anyway) you could get another tooled up vet squad with points left over to throw in other dirrections.

I'd also chuck in a few Demo charges. These things are brilliant to putting holes in Marine units and orks alike. For only 30pts it's a steal.

So I've made a few changes, I have a question about the Medusa... can it fire indirectly?

Yep, the Medusa only fires directly, so be careful with it (I recommend camo cloaks and hiding behind Chimeras).

I'd say it looks quite good. I'd be more inclined to make your CCS mobile with meltas so you get orders if your Vets need to dismount.

And for your HS tanks, I'd recommend a hull heavy flamer. A single HB is mostly ineffectual, and you get the added benefit of burning things if plans go pear shaped and you have a mess of enemies in close and you don't want to risk scattering.

Sentinels are still pricy, but your army should be good enough to work around it.
