    1000pt Assaulty List

Inspired by a 1850 assaulty list I found elsewhere:

    HQ

    Company Command Squad
    W/ Regimental Standard & mortar

    ELITE
    Mad Scout Larkin (Marbo)

    TROOP
    Veteran (w/ Valkyrie)
    w/ Power Fist & Meltagun

    Veteran (w/ Valkyrie)
    w/ Power Fist & Meltagun

    Infantry Platoon
Platoon Command Squad w/ medic & 2 plasmaguns
PIS A w/ PW Commissar and a Meltagun
PIS B w/ grenade launcher and power weapon
PIS C w/ grenade launcher and power weapon
    HWS w/ 3 missile Launchers

    FAST ATTACK
    Valkyrie
    w/ Multiple Rocket Pods

    Valkyrie
    w/ Multiple Rocket Pods

General Tactic: Combine Platoon Infantry Squads into one big blob to hit center. PCS supports main advance, while CCS gives orders to Heavy Weapons Squad and nets any units running away. Valkyries either deepstrike or outflank and unload their deadly cargo (veterans) nearby any armour while knocking off some objective/hunkered down infantry. Oh, and marbo/Larkin does his "Kill things that are valuable" thing. Preferably from the upper floor of a building to elminate chances of demo suicide.

So whaddya think? Stupid? Crazy? Stupidly crazy? Thoughts and criticism are more than welcome!

Its balls to the wall crazy! And I like crazy.

The one thing that gets me though is that your HQ isnt very assualty and hes the one that can be very assaulty.

    Definitely crazy

Assaulty guard would be a lot better now than before. It's still not great, but lots of fun.

Straken would be a solid pick for your leader, as would Creed in a more indirect role. Outflanking a big combined platoon and give them all Furious Charge.

You've got the right idea, here's what I'd suggest.

    1) Give the Vets meltas to pop vehicles. Assaulty guardsmen certainly won't be doing it. A pair of Vendettas with meltas in tow should have armor sorted at 1000 points.

    2) Pick up another big mob of dudes, deck them out with meltas and power weapons and add a Priest. Cheap, hitty, and a pain to kill.

    3) Cheap HQ would work fine, a Primaris would be sufficient.

    4) Add a couple autocannon HWS to knock transports out.

==Me== makes a great suggestion. Straken is a very solid pick for this theme you have going.

You could try to fine room in your army to fit in more meltas on your veteran squads. Vendettas are probably a better choice as well. I would add the heavy bolter upgrade to them as well so they could take out infantry as well.

Another mob would do amazing with the Priest. Although he himself is a bit on the pricey side he still will fit the theme great. Nothing like a good father by their side to strengthen their resolve.

Believe me, I'd wedge in another mob with a priest if I could spare the points! What would you drop from this list to get one?

Oh and Vets already got melta guns

EDIT: I COULD toss the CCS and HWS and add a Lord Commi w/ pw and Conscripts. That way I'd have another big mob, no heavy weapons draging me down and a use for my beautiful Counts as Lord Commissar model! Oh, and a spare ten points.

That could work and it will put more bodies on the field. What do you think ==Me==?

Are you looking to stay pure-IG, or would you consider some grey knights?

Well, I'd prefer pure Imp Guard because I own the guard models in this list (well cept the Lord Commissar but the badarse DKoK Commi is an able counts-as) but I'd be more than happy to consider some grey knights. I've fought some of those buggers, I know how hard they can be.

If we are going to work under the premise that these Guard might win an assault, you don't need the anti-infantry Valks, you need anti-armor Vendettas.

The first thing I do when I looks at a list these days is ask "Does it have a chance against Mech?" The Valks should at least be Vendettas to give the list a chance at engaging in Assault since I'd simply not get out of my Chimeras against you. :p

I've been addicted to World of Tanks lately and neglecting my IG... But it is so... much... fun!

How about something like this then?

    HQ
Lord Commissar w/Power Weapon, Carapace Armor
    Primaris Psyker

    Troops
    7 Grey Knights w/Incinerator
    7 Grey Knights w/Incinerator
Veteran Squad w/Shotguns, 3 x Melta, Chimera (Hull Flamer)
Veteran Squad w/Shotguns, 3 x Melta, Chimera (Hull Flamer)

    Fast Attack
    Valkyrie Vendetta
    Valkyrie Vendetta

    Total: 1000 pts.

Stick the GKs in the Valks and get them in the enemy's face. The Commissar Lord and the Primaris Psyker each lead a Vet Squad. Everyone is scoring. The CL takes his Chimera wherever it's needed. The PS stays back on your objective. He can either shroud his unit or pull a Palpatine on anyone that gets close. Between the Valks and the Vet Meltas, you'll lay waste to enemy armor.

You could also just trade the Primaris for Marbo.
