Well I got an upcoming tournament at 1750 points and I think to build something like this... please give me your advices because I dont know if I got the right strategy for them
Cassius (he will join one of the drop pod squads)
Tactiacal sqd x 10
Tactical Sqd x10
Assault Squad x10
Terminator Assault x5
Well the first drop pods will be The Terminator Assault
The assault sqd and then the Dreadnought
Thought I dont know if it would be better to change the the Terminators to a Devastator Squad and the land raider to a new drop pod with a venerable squad...
Give me your advices also at the strategy part...
Thanks a lot!
Terminators cant take drop pods they have to deep strike and if there gonna be assault terminators your best of putting them in your landraider.
Assault marines drop podding? Did you remove there jump packs i wouldnt of done that if you have. If you havent they cant drop pod but they can deep strike.
V.dreadnought with a multi melta drop podding could work but i think you best of giving him an assault cannon and heavy flamer. And letting him go after light vechiles and infantry.

Marines - All built, 4/5 painted. Tau - 3/4 built, 0 painted. 'crons - 1/2 built, 1/2 painted.
I suck at staying on task.
then I should use location beacons? for the gate I mean
also it is better to use insted of the assault a sternguard sqd?
I was thinking to keep the drop pod cause I want 3 drop pods at first round! any other suggestions on that?

As MechMan pointed out, Termies now can't take Drop Pods. I'm not sure why this is so fluff wise, but that's the rules.
Massed Drop Pods can be great if played properly. However, be aware that it also forces some of your units into reserves, which can force you to fight at a disadvantage for a while.
Powerfists for Tactical Squads are still a great deterrent to enemy units. Despite its cost and lower attack count in 5th Ed, it makes people think twice of attacking a squad with one. Without a Powerfist you'll be assaulted high AV walkers or Monstrous Creatures and be stuck for a long time.
Instead of a Venerable Dreadnought, consider taking the Ironclad version. A friend of mine who plays 3 Drop Pods takes one and pops smoke on its first turn. Boy does it ever take a lot of attention to handle!
I've used Cassius before and I can assure you he's not a badass killing unit. Rather, he's more like a tie down unit so use him to touch your enemy's power weapon model in close combat to slow things down.
How exactly do you plan to use Tigurius by the way?
I would slim down your HQ unit. That's two special characters there and that is quite a points drain on you. What is your librarian going to do? Does he need to be Tigurius to do it?
Remember missile launchers in drop pods can't fire the first turn they show up, are they worth the points?
Your Tac. Squads look good. Are you going to combat squad them? I would also add a Power Fist, if you drop pod you will get into CC, and when you do you want those hits to count.
Heavy flamer for the Dread, you will be so glad you did.
Ass. Squad, I don’t think you can take a DP with them. As well remember they can not assault in the turn they drop so they will be a dangerous unit your opponent will be sure to target sitting in the open just begging for it.
Terminators are lots of fun, unfortunately no DP for these guys. You can deep strike but the no assault still stands for them in that turn. Use your Land Raider if anything.
As for the land raider, remember if you go second it is sitting there as the only thing on the table you have till your pods come in. It WILL be shot at by everyone who has range and a weapon capable of even scratching the paint on it. Be wary of this.
Drop Pods can be great, so good luck with your list!
I read cearfully what you've told me... and i read the drop pod tactical also and I came up with few changes
A .Drop pod
Tactical sqd x10
B .Drop pod
Tactical sqd x10
C .Drop pod
Tactical sqd x10
Sternguard x 7
Sergeant Power fist
Combi - Flame x2
Combi - Plasma x3
Vanguard Veteran Sqd x7
Power fist x1
Jetpack x 7
The strategy is simple... The only one who will deployed will be tigurius
I dont know how smart is that but if I can hide him behind a building he will be safe... I didnt play a game before so I dont got that experiance.
So... Cassius will be in Sternguard Unit
The situation with the Tigurius is that he will constantly use the Gates power to move him self (1st turn he will do it alone to join th sternguard squad) and then he will move them with the help of the locator Beacons
I think it will be wise to use Locator beacons in all the drop pods for this reason...
I remove the land raider because someone told me that it will be imposible to be alive after first turn... Is that true? I cant use the smokers on first turn? so to protect it?
I dont know if it is smart to use cassius, but even that you all telling me to remove him... I think it is a great unit in CC, so I was hopping to kill a lot of people!
Give me your advices now...
Smoke only gives you a 4+ cover save but Land Raiders are notoriously difficult to kill.I remove the land raider because someone told me that it will be imposible to be alive after first turn... Is that true? I cant use the smokers on first turn? so to protect it?He's great at taking punishment (I've seen him take on 2 Daemon Princes at once and live!) but he's crap at giving it out (if the Grey Knights hadn't shown up to help he'd probably still be in CC with those DPs now!)I dont know if it is smart to use cassius, but even that you all telling me to remove him... I think it is a great unit in CC, so I was hopping to kill a lot of people!
Well I didnt know that... yes it is clear... just in my army... so I dont deploy anything... right?
If I give up cassius... (IF) what should I use insted? an extra drop pod with another dreadnought? nah....
give me your suggestion
Tigurius can enter a drop pod with sternguards? I know that he wears terminator armor! thats why I ask

Sorry if this thread is dead, but its getting confusing. Or maybe im reading it right.
Im not space marine vet, but generally you do not want to sink alot of points in HQ units, exspecially special characters.
at 1750 you will probably want more troop choices than 2 tac squads. I know you can combat squad them.
I dont think Tigruis (or whatever) is in termy armor. Maybe you should drop him and get a reg librarian with smite instead. stick him witha unit in a drop pod maybe?
and no you dont have to deploy anything with this list.
Eldar -APOC- 6500 Points
Chaos Daemons -Fate Crusher- 3500 Points
Grey knights - 1000 Points
