Ok so this is a list I use just whenever I play a 2000 pt. game, and has been fairly effective, although I believe there are some much needed tweaks to be made.
plasma pistol for sarg.
x4 plasma guns
full squad of ratlings
(I know I need some PBS! Going to get them soon.)
GL and AC for both
all AC for them
w/ plasma sponsons
(FYI) I find my infantry squads moving most of the game getting to objectives rather than shooting their heavy weapons. At most getting 1 or 2 rounds of shooting.
Ok at the end of all this I have 15 pts to spare. I really have doubts about my 4th troop choice as they were really just point fillers, and to get access to my AC HWS. This is where I think my weakness lies. Like I said I do plan on getting two full PBS in there, I think in place of the whole 4th troop choice. I also feel a lack of anti-personnal weapons so am considering on making the vandettas valkries instead. Also Just recently got another chimera so trying to incorporate that into my little list here as well. Fairly new to this so help would be much appreciated.

I think your right, the 4th troop choice is garbage. In your case, i would consider making some squadrons out of your vendettas. maybe, 2x vendetta, 2x vendetta, and 2x valkarie or, 1x vendetta, 1x vendetta, and 2x valkarie, depending on how you move your points. Dropping the entire 4th troop choice, the rattelings, and mabye the plasma sponsons of the russ. (or possible moving them onto the demolisher) also, it doesnt look like you really use the orders for your HQ. Maybe consider the psyker hq. you could load him up in a vet's chimera with the squad, and he can help them tank hunt and give them a great attack vs infantry and monsterous creatures.
No, keep the platoon! Add a Commissar, blob the two infantry squads together and use that to guard your home objective. Unless you want to go completely mechanized, you should try to have both a hammer and an anvil...you don't want those Veteran squads to be taking on full-strength units when they arrive, do you? Then you need some heavy weapons.
Having both three Vendettas and lots of Chimerae is redundant. I think you'd get better results swapping out the Vendettas for Hellhounds--like most Veteran-heavy lists, you are lacking in anti-horde and over the top in anti-tank. You might consider stormtroopers, too; they can distract/soften up a target while the Veterans close in.

I don't see a huge problem with the platoon. They do present a very tempting target for enemy anti-infantry though, so be aware that they will be taking punishment.
I don't fine the ACs all that necessary when you have Vendettas, meltas and Demos pop high AV up close, so the Vendettas mess up transports at range.
The plasma CCS can drop down to melta, with the Demo I don't think you need it.
Normal Russes are trash, I'd just get 2 Demolishers and 1 Eradicator or Executioner to mess up infantry piling out of their transports.
