having given up on artillery ive had a stab at a tallarn list, because i love the models mainly.
The lascannons are for once the chimeras are gone, and my men are (ideally, sitting on objectives)
30 conscripts 120
special weapons 100
special weapons 65
primaris psyker 70
primaris psyker 70
2 scout sentinels 100
That said, lose Captain Al and go with Mechanized Veterans. Al is a one-trick pony with no flexibility in how he deploys. Lascannons are for popping transports in the first 2 turns. There's really no point in having them in an infantry squad while you're running for objectives during the late game. Commissar Lords are best used with all-infantry lists. Primaris Psykers are OK, but if you're going to take 2, just kit out a CCS instead. Orders do come in handy with dismounted Vet Squads in the mid-late game.
see,, i didnt feel like i needed flexibility in deploying with al..as hes outflanking, i figured it was asa good a shot at not being killed in the open, as im guarenteed a turn of shooting with each unit before they start getting hit back.
the psykers were just there to annoy people shooting at them, its not veil of tears by any stretch, but enough squads will fail to make it worthwhile.
if i drop the lascannons from the squds, should i buy a 3rd scout sentinel?
or drop that unit alltogether and buy a banewolf or medusa?
Think of a spearhead mission. In that mission I usually want my reserves coming in anywhere along my own long table edge, not on a random short side.
And yes, you need more Hellhounds. I'd recommend at least 2. Scout Sentinels with Lascannons are fine if you want to outflank something or just have fun tarpitting things.
The only way you should take Al' Rahem is if you dedicate your entire list to him. You seem to be digging your toes into two types of styles of playing IG, Mechanized and Al' Rahem. Either go with one or the other. Now unlike Kgoreham, who I have nothing against, I will not say to go all mechanized veterans. The choice is yours. The way you have Al' Reham right now Im okay with except for the speical weapon squads, conscripts, and heavy weapons in those infantry squads. I'd get some heavy weapon squads and some more infantry squads instead. So then you have some long range fire support for your outflanking units. You could probably replace the veterans with something cheaper and get some more anti-tank as well. But these are just my opinion so everything is up to you.
