I've got a Ravenguard army started using some BoBR tacticals and dread. I wanted to use Shrike for sure, and I wanted to keep it rather "fluf/theme" oriented using fast moving tactics and scouts. I forget the exact list I've got in mind, but it's more of less this below. I have not really had any experience playing SM from the new codex, so I'm not real familiar with the effectiveness of some of this.
x2 10 tactical marines, flamer, ML, power weapon, drop pod
x2 5 scouts, 4 sniper rifles, x1 ML, camo cloaks
x1 10 scouts, x5 shotguns, x4 BP/knife, powerfist
standard dreadnaught with heavy flamer and drop pod
x2 Typhoon speeder
7 assault marines with power weapon(might have been powerfisst)
General tactics are for shrike and assault marines to use outflank and be a general nusance. Same with the larger scout squad.
So does it seem like a good idea for decent, moderately competative list?
That list'll do fine. Fits with the fluff too. A Jump Pack Chaplain never hurts though!
Cool thanks. I've always wanted to make a RG army since I read about them in an old IA book.
For a 1750 list I'm thinking of just maxing out the assault squad, giving the the SGT a powerfist, a coupld plasma pistols and then a jump pack chaplain
Any other thoughts on this list? Are all those scouts really going to hold up for me in todays game? I've seen people try just one unit of 5 snipers in an army and they get whiped out fast and was a waste of points. I'm hoping with the two sniper units, and the larger unit of 10, I have enough to keep people occupied.
Has anyone tried the new LS storms with scouts loaded up? What about Telion, should I figure out how to get him in the army? Is he worth it?
