Hello, i have a brother who plays 40k he plays orks. but he has some old space marines he gave me so i got the newest codex. I have a:
1 Captain ( i can say he's anything that looks similar)
10 space marines (4 painted like blood angles, 2 are ultramarines, 1 salamander, 1 thats purple and silver and 2 unpainted)
1 Ironclad Dreadnaught with 2 CC arms with flamethrowers underneath the arms dont know is thats legal.
1 Razorback with a Lascannon.
Can anyone help me create a balanced 1000 point army using all the things mentioned above please? It doesn't have to own every army, im just looking for a build thats relatively simple.

I'd say with the stuff you mentioned you have about 500 points all of which are a good balance to start with Space Marines. Adding another squad of Tactical Space Marines can go a long way and buy the Devastator Squad set as this will get you several heavy weapons choices. You don't have to build the Devastator Squad just make them and add the heavy weapons to your Tactical Squad choices.
Next get your hands on another transport, Razorback preferably since you'll want more firepower!
You can finish off this list by adding either Fast Attack or Heavy Support. For Heavy Support the Whirlwind is a good cheap point investment that can bring alot of firepower to the table against horde armies. For Fast Attack you can mix it up with Anti-Tank stuff like 2-3 Attack Bikes with Multi-Melta's.
Finally getting powerfist's for your Tactical Marine's Sgt. can go a long way. 1 is included in the Devastator Box set so if you pick that up you'll only need 1 more.
Hope this helps and welcome to the Space Marines!!!
You have a really good base for a force there. Fill it out a little more and you will be happy with how it turns out.
I would also start with another Tac Squad, probably with a Power Fist. Just the standard flamer and missile launcher work well. If you need something with a little more short range anti-armor punch a multi-melta would help you out in lieu of the launcher.
Ironclads are great. Double flamers on them are legal, and beef up ther anti-infantry might. I run my IC like that and I have been pleased with it. A drop pod is a great way to get an IC in your opponent's face safely. I would suggest picking up one, if that’s not for you run him in the cover of a Rhino.
Speaking of a Rhino, you will want one to carry around your new Tac. Squad. Or if you would like a little extra fire power a Razorback might be for you. If you plan on running that razorback with the lascannon on it keep it to the rear and give it some cover. It has a big shoot me sign on it.
A Land Speeder with a heavy flamer and a multi-melta is great for hunting tanks and infantry and has a low cost.
For a heavy, a whirlwind is good for horde, or a daka pred is nice at times as well.
None of those picks should take you above 1k. Good luck with your build and have fun.
I'll take a shot at it.
Captain, relic blade, artificer armour=145
10 marines, flamer, missile launcher, power fist, rhino =230
10 marines, flamer, missile launcher, power fist, razorback with lascannons =260
Ironclad dread, drop pod, teleport homer =175
I have suggested this because all you need to do to get your army to this is buy black reach. If you shop around online you could get it for £35 ish and have a spare dreadnought and a spare captain. As a bonus you could give your brother the orks you get!
