    1000pt Mixed

    Hello. I'm aiming for a static firebase combined with some armour.

    This list is based on the stuff I have, so major changes will be difficult (like the addition of vehicles) but I have about 20 more infantry I could field if I could find the points.

    My playgroup consists of Necrons, Tyranids (nidzilla-ish) and space wolves(mechanized/drop pod combo), so this list is generally tuned to that environment.

    Some of the weaknesses I see are that I don't have great anti-hoard capabilities and have relatively few troops considering that I'm not mechanized. I would like to add a chimera for the second vet squad but don't have the model for it (instead I took marbo, also filling a 10pt gap). I really should find a better platform for the lascannons than BS3 infantry, and the autocannon HWS will probably turn into a fine red mist all too soon.

    In terms of strengths, I seem to have packed a heck of a lot of firepower into 1000pts, and at least have some redundancies.

    My general strategy is to have the infantry maintain a firebase with the russes on either flank to try and split AT firepower while the chimelta zips around and the plasma vets try and get their shots twin-linked.

    All in all, it feels a little too tailored to take out MEQs and MCs rather than being a true all-comers list.

    Anyways, comments? Ideas for impromvements?

    HQ: Fine. I think the Master of ordnance would be better replaced by master of the fleet. i have used one several times and have yes to get a kill.

    Elites: good.

    Troops: The 3 flamers would never get a shot as the enemy will just kill them if they approach a juicy target. 3 GLs would be better. Other squads are good. Considder a heavy flamer on the chimera hull.

    Heavy: The HF wont fire very often. In a game which would you rather have; a single HF shot that means your tank has to get dangerously close to krak grenades or 9-15 HB shots that also allow your tank to move back 6" delaying assaults by another turn.

    HQ: Add camo to keep them alive. MoO is rather inaccurate.

    Elites: Good points filler

    Troops: This is a mess. A single HWS is bait, you'll need more to ensure some of them survive. A single mounted Vet unit suffers similarly. Plasma isn't so hot with cover the way it is. 3 autocannon squads and 2 mounted meltaVet units would be better.

    Heavy: I don't like the normal Russ much, it's too much of a generalist. It doesn't hurt 2+ saves or AV14. A Demo would be better I think. The Hull flamer works fine, since HBs aren't all that effective and it deters assaults much more readily.

    Thanks for the advice guys. I have actually gotten some good use out of the MoO lately, whether that just means my luck will run out soon will have to be seen. I also use BiD to twin-link the shot, although that might be a little sketchy rules-wise.

    ==You== are totally right about the troops. I've redone them.

    My current environment includes a heck of a lot of 3+ saves, but only MCs with 2+ saves where the demolisher could only get 1 wound at a time.

    I've had mediocre usage out of the HHB, so I'll give HHFs a spin.

    I will have to get another chimera and convert a new squad of meltavets to run this list, but ah well. I'm going to try this out against some necrons today and just proxy what I need.

    The major weakness I see in the list is to monoliths, as the vets can take down other AV14 easily with the 2d6 pen while the 'lith negates it. I'll probably just go for a phase-out.

    If somebody brings a Mono to 1000 points, lol heartily and Phase his dumb ass out

    Demos would be a good pick up over normal Russes if you could swing it.

    If I drop the MoO, I can change my LRBTs to demolishers.

    I'm really not sure the standard is worth it with this list (I probably want the squads to get overrun and cut down so that my tanks can flame the enemyt) and if I drop the single flamer I have 20pts to play with. I was thinking that I could give a lascannon the the CCS for veteran goodness, with the option to twin-link it against it's primary targets. Still, I probably have more than enough AT in this army.
