Hey all, here is the probable new army i've picked from the help and advice recieved in the questions section.
Pedro Kantor 175
Tactical squad: Powerfist, Drop pod, Flamer and Missile Launcher = 230
Tactical squad: Powerfist, Drop pod, Meltagun and Multi-melta = 235
Sternguard x10 : Powerfist, Drop pod, Combi-melta x2 = 320
Ironclad Dreadnought: Heavy flamer instead of storm bolter, Drop pod = 180
Ironclad Dreadnought: Heavy flamer instead of storm bolter, Drop pod =180
Total = 1320
What do you guys think? Is it viable or too short on man power? And what should those remaining 180 points go on?
a) assault marines x7, with powerfist and flamer x2 = 181
b) librarian (gate and null zone) + scouts = 175 (librarian to help sternguard kill things dead and then gate them to saftey or an objective)
c) thunderfire cannon + scouts = 175 (to hold the home objective and annoy hordes)
d) land speeders/ bikes
e) vanguard or honourguard or something with more of a close combat punch
Many thanks in advance for any help
Good gaming to all
I would probably grab a pair of HF/MM Land speeders or 3 x MM Attack bikes. A locator beacon couldn't hurt either.
Barring that option C isn't bad. Sure, it's another scoring unit, but the Thunderfire cannon and sniper/heavy bolter Scouts will definitely do some damage.

Definitely viable in the hands of a skilled Space Marine I would go with any kind of Fast attack, preferably the kind that can Turbo Boost to ensure objectives get contested. Attack Bikes w/Multi-Melta's are good options as your army looks pretty stable with destroying horde armies.
If you do play against alot of horde though go with TFC + Scouts.
Hey thanks all for the replies,
I have a thunderfire cannon so will crack that one out when i build this list, but honestly am surprised there wasn't more love for the librarian being added to support the sternguard - but hey can't complain you guys are the experts
How about 2 multi-melta and flamer speeders and then spending the rest of the points on a
combi-melta for each sergeant and some missile launchers for the drop pods?
Or do i need more daka? And therefore put assault cannons on them?
Or i'm thinking 3 scout bikes with meltabombs (to scout move, and then get first turn hits on vehicles) and 5 scouts ready to hide on a home objective.
Many thanks again. Good gaming
P.s. I know i'll be facing daemons, space marines, eldar and guard
The librarian isn't a bad idea. Some locator beacons would help with his teleporting. Two more combi-melta on the sternguard are worth it and cheap. Some MM, HF Land Speeders are a good idea to fill this out with. It's similar to my 1500 DP list. Good luck.
Looking at your list, to add balance, you need heavy or fast. Fast I think would suit better, so I recommend the bikes and attack bikes.
The Librarian with Gate idea is not horrible on paper, but I tried it in several games and honestly it was disastrous. I was literally killing more of my troops than my opponent. I had terrible scatter rolls into terrain then rolling multiple 1's on the dangerous terrain test, and once I scattered back onto the exact spot I left from (in terrain, more dead stern guard because my dice hate me), and I scattered 11 inches into wide open space in front of three units which then mowed my guys down, plus I had a perils of the warp test that gave me a deepstrike mishap and I rolled another 1 and lost the whole unit, and I rolled doubles on the scatter dice several times, losing expensive sternguard in the process. I am not kidding. All that happened in just three games. In one game I NEVER scattered less than 11 inches and never had a direct hit with the deep strike.
Once a Marine, always a Marine.
