So I'm up against a mate of mine that wants a quick 500pt game next week. He will be fielding Chaos Marines and more than likely will have a bike as well. Beyond that, I'm not sure. So this is a list I came up with and I'd like your opinions:
Platoon Command Squad
Veterans with Lascannon
Sentinel with Autocannon
Storm Trooper Squad (x8 )
Total - 508pts
I was thinking I would use my lascannon with the Bring it Down order to take down any AT or his bike. The Sentinel will also act as an anti AT/Bike unit. The other two infantry squads I just plan to stand and shoot with the First Line Fire order. I will infiltrate the Stormies and hope to take down a few marines with their hot hot guns and the first shot pinning is a bonus.
When Marbo comes into play I hope to just land him in between two of his units, fire the democharge and hope for the best! If he manages to survive the turn, I just hope to tie up one of his squads for a turn.
So, what do you think? One thing I am very worried about is the Chaos Bike. I played against it before and it decimated my men. And Ideas?
I'd ditch the Storm Troopers. At 85pts for 5 they're far to expensive for what you'll be getting at these points. Use those points on up grading the rest of your force.
Move the Lascannon to the CCS as these guys will be holding back with the Platoon and issuing orders. Plus it makes use of their decent BS.
If you're up against Chaos marines chuck some plasma Guns in your Veteran squad. Chaos marines hate nothing more than 3 Plasma guns hitting on 3's. They'll skill kill those bikers on 2's as well.
You're Platoon could do with some guns. A staple Autocannon/G-Launcher works fairly well and is pretty good at taking down things like Marine Rhinos. Against marines though i'd grab a Missile Launcher for the AP3.
Soemthing like this for your Troops maybe?
PCS, Autocannon - 40pts
INF, Autocannon, G-Launcher - 65pts
INF, Autocannon, G-Launcher - 65pts
Veterans, 3 Plasma Guns, Missile Launcher - 130pts
Thats 300pts. All those squads can deal with any armour he brings like Rhino's and the Veterans can take down any Marines who decide to get into range. With "Bring it Down!" and "Fire on my Command" The Vets can pretty much trash anything the decide to shoot at.
Marbo is fine and at these points he's pretty sick. Good Choice.
One Sentinel might not acheive much, Hopefully by ditching all those S-Ts you'll have enough points to buy him a friend.
I think if you go with what i've said you should be about 25pts short.

Thanks for the reply.
I've taken some of your ideas on board and think moving the lascannon to the CCS is a good idea. Unfortunately I don't have any autocannons (I am a bit limited with what I have) so I may just opt for the missile launcher.
I thought Storm Troopers would be great against Chaos with their AP 3 but I understand that its a bit of a point sink.
Have you any thoughts on maybe a Basilisk or Ratlings? I'm really looking at what I have and seeing what would work. :/
Ratlings would be really good for taking out any ultra-tough creatures he brings, and in a game this small would be able to earn their points back with a few well placed shots!
I think making room for a standard bane wolf would be awesome. Chem cannon murders marine armour.
yeah take out marbo and the stormtroopers and the sentinel and pop in a Leman Russ Demolisher
Again Basilisks aren't great, They've got a huge minimum range if they're firing indirectly that makes them pretty useless if the enemy move forward. They can fire directly but they're AV12 and are open topped so die quite quickly. For 25pts more you're getting a LEman Russ which has better armour, can move and fire and it's gun is pretty much the same.
Basilisks are ok on larger boards as their minimum range becomes less of a problem but in small games like 500pts a Russ or a Banewolf would serve you better.

Thanks for the replies.
What I have is as follows:
About 40 Cadians (and even more catachans but dont like using them)
Missile Launcher, 3 Lascannons, Heavy Bolter, Mortar
10 Storm Troopers
Leman Russ with battle cannon
Thats just a rough break down of what I have. Any ideas?
Ooooh! lots of cool things you have to use!
CCS, Lascannon -70pts
Veteran Squad, 3 Melta guns, Chimera - 155pts
Veteran Squad, 3 Plasma Guns, M-Launcher - 130pts
If you wanted to you could use the S-Ts as Carapace armoured Veterans and put the plasma guns in there.
Thats 355pts. Leaving 145pts. If you lost a plasma gun you could grab a Leman Russ or you could get a Platoon in there.
PCS- Mortar - 40pts
INF - H-Bolter - 60pts
INF - Nothing? - 50pts
You could always combine the squads to make use of the First rank fire second rank fire order and make this a Troop killer unit. It's only 150pts too. If you really wanted to you could shift the Lascannons into these squads and use the "bring it down order" to take down some of his tanks.
What have the Sentinels got on them?

Thanks for the advice, but I have already had the game! But will take into account what you said for future games.
I went for the suggested army list you posted earlier. Well close enough anyways.
I fielded two sentinels, one with a autocannon, other with multilaser (ran out of points).
I had two games. The first game I pretty much annihilated him. He fielded a squad of marines, another squad of marines with CC weapons in a rhino and a biker.
The bike charged forward within 6" in the first turn using his turbo boosters, rhino and squad pushed forward a bit. I took out the bike in the first turn with my lascannon. (Can you use the "bring it down" rule on bikes? I didnt, but was wondering). The same turn I blew up his rhino with my autocannon, also killing 3 of his squad. I lost 2 men due to my plasmas getting too hot!
The next turn Marbo came into play and hit his tightly packed squad. I managed to reduce his men to 3, and they fell back. His other CC squad was getting closer and killed 2 of my men with pistol fire. I further reduce that squad to 3 from First Rank Fire and just general firepower.
The next turn he went into CC with one of my squads, I sent in a sentinel and my command squad. He somehow killed 7 of my men before I killed his 1 guy!
So overall it went well. The second game was a draw. His biker really does wreak havok!
