In Great Need of Guidience - DEATHWING

    Hi there!
I was looking through the Dark Angels codex and they seem pretty crappy (with the exeption of that Azrael guy) compared to normal marines. But I was very intriguied by the thought of making a complete list of terminators, so I made up two 1500 pts. list that go in two very different directions since I have no idea of how an army like the Deathwing are supposed to be played...
    So here they are:

    List one "close combat oriented".
    HQ.
    Belial, lightning claws.

    Troops.
5 deathwing terminators, lightning claws, sergent w. thunder hammer and storm shield.

    Heavy.
    Landraider.
    Landraider.
    Landraider crusader.

Probably one of the smallest armies that can be created... very elite very close combaty.

    List two "shooty build"
    HQ.
    Belial, sword, storm bolter.

    Troops.
5 deathwing terminators, power fist and storm bolter, sergent powersword, 1 chain fist, 1 assault cannon.

5 deathwing terminators, power fist and storm bolter, sergent powersword, 1 chain fist, 1 assault cannon.
5 deathwing terminators, power fist and storm bolter, sergent powersword, 1 chain fist, 1 missile launcher.
5 deathwing terminators, power fist and storm bolter, sergent powersword, 1 missile launcher.
5 deathwing terminators, power fist and storm bolter, sergent powersword, 1 missile launcher.

Twice as many bodies and more shooting, no transports though so they will have to rely on deathwing assault. To make a terminator shooting force wouldnt be my first thought, but a read an article by a guy who had made a very similar list to this, and acording to him it works surprisingly well.
But could any of you guys help me a little here because im a bit lost... have you any experience with similar lists, or just some words of wisdom to give?
    Thanks!

The problem with those lists (mainly the first one) is that when you want to take an objective, you have to waste an entire 200+ point squad. All terminator list looks impressive thouygh, I personally would use the second one with a Termie assault squad replacing one of the normal squads for the massive combats. Eg. Hive tyrant or wave of guants, those lightning claws dominate gaunts!

    Thanks for the reply!
Yeah I know niether of the lists would be very competetive, more extreme lists like these two often seem to be winning gloriosly or slaughtred them self depending on the oponnent. I also thought the second list would be the best, but do you think a close combat squard is worth trading in for the shooting one would be missing out on? A shooty termie squard is still rather impresive in close combat, even compared to other close combat specialist units...
Have you tried Deathwing or other termie heavy lists?

Nah not really, just the odd squad or two here or their in my Black Templars list years ago, lol. Still i think my idea's are bascially correct and it doesn't take a genious to figure out three sqauds of five men find it hard to capture 4 objectives! =P.
