    2 lists just for fun...

Hi there! I dont actually play DH but I do own the codex though.
I have tried playing the DH army many times just proxeing models against friends, but I have never been able to make the army function very well (which I can guess you need to be rather skilled to do).
So what I have done now is trying to make two lists that represent the two army builds that I can understand is the best way of playing the codex.

    List 1 "psycannon spam"
    HQ.
    grandmaster, psycannon.

    Troops.
5 grey knights, 2 psycannons, justicar w. psycannon.

    Heavy.
    dreanaught, twin lascannon, ML.

    Lance strike.

    List 2 "raider spam"
    HQ.
    inquisitor, power weapon.
    -mounted in landraider.

    Elites.
    Calidus assassin

    Troops.
    5 stormtroopers, 2 meltas.
    5 stormtroopers, 2 meltas.

    Heavy.
    Landraider crusader, blessed amunition.

This list is an epic fail against mechanized armies. Psycannons are weak anti-tank unless you're shooting at open-topped AV10 vehicles like speeders, trukks and raiders and does absolutely nothing to heavier armor. You need a more efficient way to take down armor. 2 dreads cannot reliably take down heavy armor and are themselves very vulnerable to enemy AT. Nowadays, IST's w/meltas in rhinos are your best bet to take down enemy armor.

Illegal. You need a Grey Knight hero in order to take any GKLR's at all (or dreads). The stormies not in LR's need rhinos of their own. Get rid of blessed ammo for smokes on all your vehicles instead (and EA for your rhinos).

But the main problem with the list is what are you going to do after you've destroyed their armor and forced them to disembark? Assault them with your stormies? You have the 'anvil' but no 'hammer'...meaning you can pry them out of their transports but you don't really have anything that can finish them off once you do.

i think youre wrong there. after all his tanks are blown up, he has 4 LRCs to finish them off. do you realise how much firepower one of those tanks puts out? let alone 4? im willing to bet money on 2 wiping out a marine unit in a turn. a hammer doesnt always have to be in the form of a CC unit
    When in doubt, more Bloodcrushers

Yes, I realize what 1 LRC can do. Too bad our assault cannons are only heavy 3 with no rending. As it is, a LRC may take down 3 MEQ's a turn, but that's if it is within rapid fire range.

And guess what most MEQ squads pack nowadays? Meltas. The LRC's will be taken down faster than the disembarked MEQ's they're trying to shoot down.

You only really need 1 unit of PAGK's w/2 incinerators in one of those LRC's to "finish the job" if they are standard MEQ's.
