Devastator Squad - 215 pts
lascannon x 2
This is what I have. I would love to hear what yall think about it.
I am building a Roman army. So kinda like ultramarines but in ancient Rome style
Like it, all AT based opponents are stuffed, keep it without tanks.
I never equip my tactical squads w/ ML's and Flamers, I take plasma guns, and plasma cannons. Need more troops, ALOT more troops.
Not a fan of MM's in devastator squads as are short range, and no use of a power fist in a devastator squad as are long range squads, so put the power fist guy in one of the tactical squads.
When faced by an army of awesomness, RUN.
Adding Rep is always nice for everyone!
You can't have 3 HQ, what purpose is your librarian for??? I'd consider dropping him (as you have to drop one of them).
I'm not a fan of bike squads of 3. They can only dish out 4 attacks in combat and only 3 bullets from a range, so they have very little use. If you want it for AT, you should get another melta gun and an attack bike with multi melta.
You need to change your dev. squad. If it meant for AT (which I think it is) you should give it either all missile launchers or 2 missile launchers and 2 lasscannons. As stated before, devs don't need a powerfist.
How does the assault squad reach 212 points, I think it should be 205.
If you want to increase the points you should add another tactical squad, give them all p fists and possibly rhino's. You could then consider adding vehicles, like a vindicator, a predator or a couple of land speeders.
THe power fist in the dev squad is on the sgt and that is strictly for if the squad gets overrun (it happened againts a chaos deamon player). As for the librarian he is attached to my terminators to ad a storm bolter to them. this is just a fun army not a competitive sov yes i can use three hq.
And for some strange reason i roll better with MMs
but i like the ideas of replacing the bike squd. What I was trying to do was have a coupe long range guys to cover the CC guys but idk if I should get rhinos or drop pods?
A dev. squad of multi melta's is fine if you ask me, be some people dislike their short range (they do have a point there), but the most important thing is that your dev. squad is all for the one purpose (AT, light infantry or heavy infantry), so just don't have a single heavy bolter in there.
The fist could be more use in a tactical squad, as they are meant to get into combat.
As for they transports, I'd either drop pod in the tactical squads and give them a teleport homer for the termies or put them in rhino's and charge them up. If you do either of these you'll need to give your dread a drop pod as well.
PS. even if your opponent allows you to use 3 HQ, I don't think it's a good idea, I rarely run with more than 1 in 1500 points, your army just gets too small.
Interesting idea about the drop pod I was gonna get 4 drop pods two for the tac one for termies and one for dreadnaught. anyway why is having on heavy bolter in their bad? im justing starting out in warhammer so thank you all for answering questions and im sorry if i ask a whole bunch in return
Having one Heavy Bolter is bad because all the fire has to be directed at one target anyway. What good is a Heavy Bolter against a tank? It's useless, that what! It's better if you focus them on 1 thing or add 2 weapons of the same choice as the option of being turned into a combat squad makes them really versatile. Examples below.
And as far as having a Powerfist on the Dev Squad Sgt. it's a big no-no. Reason is they have to keep shooting they can't afford to be locked up in combat. If Demons or anyone gives you trouble and engage in an assault you always have the option to lose the leadership test and run away. That way you can just fire at them with all you got on your following shooting phase.
You'll need another Troop Choice or 2 to make them fun in 2,000 points so a new list would look something like:
1 Chaplain w/Jump Pack-He is necassary
1 Captain w/Relic Blade-He can be removed easily
1 10 Tactical Squad w/Meltagun, Multi-Melta, Powerfist-Tank Hunting
1 10 Tactical Squad w/Plasmagun, Plasmacannon, Powerfist-Marine/light tank hunting
1 10 Tactical Squad w/Flamer, Plasma Cannon, Lightning Claws-Marine/Horde Hunters
1 Dreadnought w/Multi-Melta, DCCW in Drop Pod-Tank Hunting
1 10 Assault Squad w/Powerfist-add Plasma Pistol if you want.
1 Bike Squad w/2x Meltagun, 1 Attack Bike w/Multi-Melta-Tank Hunting
1 10 Devastator Squad w/2x Heavy Bolter, 2x Missle Launcher-Cheap effective infantry/tank killers.
Now it could go 2 ways from here. You could make it an all pod list in which case I recommend you read up on your Drop Pod strategies in the Tactica Section, or the other option is to add Razorback's to the list and take 2 Vindicator's. If you want to go for the Pod strategy drop the Attack Bikes to make some room for Sternguard and another Dreadnought.
Melta's/Combi-Melta's are your friend keep that in mind.
I stuck with your original idea and tossed in a little bit of everything in the Tactical/Devastator Squads. Also read your codex as several units were overpriced in your original post.
