I've acquired some new models recently that I can't resist sticking in a list, so I'm going to field a different sort of army to what I usually go for. This will be going up against guard with a mechanised component (4 chimeras with command squads, and/or vets/special weps who'll be carrying meltas and plasmas most likely), a Leman Russ, a squad or two of Sentinels, and probably a great number of heavy weapons (a combination of lascannons and autocannons I suspect). Any comments on the likely effectiveness of the list would be appreciated!
Chaplain with Jump Pack and Power Fist
3x Tactical Squad (10 men)
Sergeants with Power Fists
2 Squads with Missile Launchers
1 With Multi Melta
Sergeant with Power Fist
4 Scouts with CC wep and BP
Swap Storm Bolters for Heavy Flamers
1 in a Drop Pod (the only drop pod I own, so no use suggesting a second!)
Bog Standard loadout
2X Assault Squad (7 man squad & 8 man squad)
Sergeants with Power fists
1X Land Speeder Storm
1X Land Raider (I only own the standard variant)
1 full tac squad (the one with the Multimelta) would go in the land raider, and three combat squads would go in the razorbacks (One would have to embark on the first turn). This would be one big mechanised push, supported by the assault marines and the two footslogging dreddies, with the intention of going in hard and fast to collapse one of his flanks. One combat squad of tacs would hang back. The land speeder full of scouts would be kept back, hopefully out of view, and sent out as needed. The drop pod would go wherever looks tasty on the first turn
looks good. I guess it will come down to deployment and trying to block line of sight /cause lots of casualties with your drop pods and cause interference with you Storm + Scouts: Otherwise your armor and footslogging units will probably go down very fast indeed.
To be quite honest i haven't had the chance to face lots of I.G. so i can't really point out where they could counter your list.
