Want to win at least once

Ok yes I am new to the game, but with a rule book to hand I feel like I can be a worthy player.

But I am sick of being beaten, yes I know it’s a game and its fun, and it’s sometimes fun to lose if you and the person you’re playing against are fun to play against.

But I have lost a few games to players who are playing to win and only win ( myself playing for fun and have increasingly become annoyed by this mentality) now want to put up a decant ‘tournament style’ army together with the models I have to try and beat them.

So with the below list ( I wont be buying any more models and they are already painted and assembled as such no modifications will be made ) what would you guys recommend for the best chance of winning a 750 point game?

    Kayvaan Shrike
    Chaplain with Bike

5 Vanguard Veteran models (which have been used as captains)
    All with jumppacks
1 with pair of lightning claws
1 with chainsword and power sword
2 with bolt pistols and LC
    1 with plasma and LC

5 Combat squad models with usual bolt guns etc

    10 scouts
    8 with sniper rifles
    2 with missile launchers

2 attack bikes with multi meltas

    5 Terminators
    3 with Thunder hammers
    2 with pair of LC

    10 Assualt Squads
    all with jump packs
7 with bolt pistols and Chainswords
    Sergeant with LC and chainsword
    2 with Flamers

So using the models as they are whats the best 750 point army you can come up with?

Hope to hear from you guys soon. J

fixed points would be nice. like 1000 points 1500 points lsit that you want to use. etc.
Superior stamina may win battles, but the ability to quickly recover wins wars.

i tend to limit the power weapons on vangaurd in games less than 1000,
combat scouts and a L-S Storm are fun to use give the serge a melta bomb and you have the chance to pop a tank first turn,

off the top of my head for a 750 list

    shirke

    troops
    5 scouts snipers
    camo cloaks
    one missile launcher

    5 scouts snipers
    camo cloaks

    tatical squad
    basic equipment

    Fast attack

    vanguard
    jump paks

    5 assault marines

not to sure bout the win but its fun to use, infiltrate with the vanguard and shike, fleet and charge.
    ----------
try replace the vanguard and assault marines with the terminators and attach shrike it will slow him down but helps him survive and fleeting termmies scare most people

    Hmmmm,

I will admit that I have never played the Vanguard Vets as a squad, always been individually used as captains. I am not sure if this would work in an objective based game but I bet it would cause some serious damage so they are unable to claim any objectives J thanks for the idea J

Drop shrike, he must be a fire magnet at 750pts. Use a jump pack captain with pair of LC.
As You don`t have Powerfist, You`ll need meltabombs, so from this 40 points tool up all of the models that can be, all vanguards, IC-s.
Also a LC costs more then a marine, there is no use of them againts light armoured enemy so try to leave them out for a favour of marines.
Vanguard can assault after DS anyway.

Ps.: Seems You like jump infantry, Blood Angels in the future?
Too much LC to make up a good BA list, I tried.

I fielded Shrike aganist a Nid army once, deep struck him in only to have genestellers literally turn around and hunt him down

My chapter is actually Raven Guard, i made and painted my models based on this first withotu actually thinking about the practicality on the table top.

Its main focus is assualt, with the LCx ability it pays for its self.after they dive into the enemy slashing and hacking away -

7 assualt marines with bolt pistol and chainsword
    2 with flamers
1 with LC and chainsword = aproxi 27 attacks with flamers doing some serious damage and the LC simply shredding away

but this is teh trap i have fallen into, all my points go on this squad and im looking for advice and how not to do this and focus on a stronger deadlier army that may actuall win once in a while
