    HEAVY SUPPORT
    Leman Russ Battle Tank Squadron
Three Leman Russes with Battle Cannons and Dozer Blades

    TACTICS:
I fully expect this list to be ripped apart, but keep in mind that its just for fun. The two Infantry Platoons bunch up into massive squads, led by the Commissar, while the CCS and the 2 PCS' run amok flaming things. The Hellhound and Sentinels will rush forward and soften everything up, while the Russes try to handle anything of significant armor. They will possibly fail, but it will be fun anyways.

    Now please...be gentle...but honest.

Well..........interesting. Not competitive, but very interesting.

To help you out a bit while keeping the theme. Swap the hellhound for a devil dog, find the points to bump up the Russes to demolishers. You really need both of them for doing the ant-tank work, not a great tactic, but probably the best you can do. I'd even take drop one squadron of sentinels for a second devil dog.

Maybe flamer veterans in chimeras to rush forward? With Demolitions?

Jeez, I'd probably drop straken for a second CCS. It'd help you spam "Move, Move, Move!" and "Get back in the fight!" orders. You're going to need it.

Though I'd normally advise against this, you could probably bump the sentinels up to the armored variety so they can bog units down in CC....unless you were planning to outflank them.

You probably won't win that many games, but hey, it'd be fun to watch if any of those infantry survived to the front.

1: Chuck some Commissars into those Line squads to stop them legging it.
2: Loose the Sentinels and use the points to get some more Devil Dogs. They're cheap and will give you the Antitank you need. Giving them Hull m-Meltas is up to you.
3: Change the Russ to Demolishers, They'll give you the ability to knock out Terminators which you just don't have right now. They'll also give you something to knock out AV14.
4: Melta Guns are heat weapons too, Don't forget about these.
5: Loose the Ratlings. S-Rifles aren't brilliant and you can do better with the points.
6: To help out with 2+Save killing you can always include some Platoon SW squads, 2 Flamers and a Democharge would help out no end and give some real pain to MEQs.

Commander Currans. I now proclaim that you are officially mad!

This list is very cool though (apart from the ratlings, they don't fit the theme at all). As the others said, dig up some Meltas, they are thermal weapons, so will fit in.

This list is the sort that will either totally slaughter the enemy, or will fail epically! I'd love to see it in action though.

points fix would be nice, but if you want anti=-horde. demolisher russes (2) and SWS with flamers do that nicely. for 1500 points,.
    thanks

Yes, I know this list is unconventional...but if you read the post "Death By Flamers" I had an awesome experience with flamers in my last game, so I started thinking outside of the box when it comes to shooting flames at peeps. I just was seeing what people had to say about it.

Flamers really are an interesting weapon, and they are overlooked so often! While I wouldn't quite go this far as to have an entire army equipped with them, I am definitely going to look at them more. They can do an awful lot, and are so cheap. You can get a lot of hits with just one flamer, and their strength is pretty good, so with a lot of hits they can even hurt space marines.

And against orks, tryanids and eldar? BURN!!! MWAHAHAHAHA!! Purge the Xenos

While I'm an IG newbie, I gotta second the usefulness of flamers for all 40k armies. In 4th edition, they were questionable at best, except on dedicated, in-your-face cc-tooled squads, but in 5th edition, they made it easier for flamers to hit, which changed a lot.

Also, don't forget flamers ignore cover. This is very, very, VERY important in 5th, as now it seems pretty much everything (*cough* gaunt wrapping *cough*) gets a cover save.
