Well, im not going to lie i really like german armies in WW2. If it werent for hitler germany probly wouldve conquered europe but hey.I was thinking of doing an armoured infantry division backed up by long range artilery. For the vheicles i was planing on usuing german half traks for transports and german AA halftrak for hydras. Im not too sure about what i would use for the colosus's so any ideas would be great(hopefully germans use them). I will also try converting the IG to look like german infantry with uniform and colors(will be in snow camo). SO here it goes and its 1500pts
Company cammand squad
Lord castellon Creed
2 body guards
3 meltas X4
All c&C is welcome and was wondering if transports still count as separte KP >??
Drop the Bodyguards and Camo Cloaks from your CCS, you don't need them. I also don't know why you're using Creed, Orders are useless to Mechanized armies. Grab a regular CCS or Straken, at least he's useful.
No Extra Armor on Chimeras and run ML/HF.
Vets are all fine, very standard.
10 Ratlings is pretty terrible. I'd drop them, Pinning almost never works and they're not as good against MCs as you'd think.
Never ever group Hydras. d3 x 3 templates at ONE target? That's a huge waste unless you're playing against horde and get good scatters. Either drop both Colossus and spread them out or drop 2 Hydras. Either way I'd use those points to get more Troops, tanks don't win games in 40k.
Um i believe hydras dont throw down templates XD. I might have the name wrong but its the skimmer killing ones (4 twinlinked shots) Ya i believe ill be changing up my hq choice and probly adding another squad of vets. To be honest i really like snipers, and Germans had one of the best snipers in WW2 so i have them more for fluff then game wise.
Bah I was thinking Manticores, they always confuse me. I'd squad 2 of those at the most, all 3 need LoS and there armor isn't great so it's easy to spread the damage.
with Prince here, you don't need Creed. Grab just a normal CCS and use them as another Veteran Squad. Load up on Special weapons and have some fun. G-Launchers are cheap and effective and give you lots of options.
BogyGuards aren't needed either. You wont be in combat and if you are you'll be dead so there's no point.
Medipack is also made pretty redundant by you being in a Chimera.
If you Dropped Creed, The Guards and the Medipack you'd save a whopping 155pts (i think)
Good. 4 squads with Melta Is maybe over kill but thats up to you. I'd maybe equip 1 unit with a Heavy Weapon and some G-Launcehrs to hold a home Objective and still provide some firepower. You could just use the points saved from the CCS to grab that 5th Vet Squad or maybe a small Platoon.
Drop these boys, they're not a great use of the points. they work well with Psyker squads but thats about it.
As Prince said 3 in one Squadron is a bit too much. 2 should be enough. Use the saved 75pts to get another Vet Squad/A Platoon or maybe some Hell hounds.
On a random note. What Models are you using for the Half traks??? I was looking for a decent half track model for months to no avail and ended up making my own
In my opinion unless you are going to a lot of tournaments, I would try and hold theme over competitiveness, especially if you are going to heavily model and convert your army to fit the theme. That being the case I would say keep the snipers, but not sure about the three Hydras, that is alot of Anti Aircraft with little anti-tank. Instead of the Colossus I would advise using a Basilisk instead, since it is similar to a Wespe or Hummel used by the german's. Using either a converted GW Basilisk or something like this 1/35 Hummel Sd.Kfz.165
@ Lord Borak and Polak I am also looking for a suitable Halftrack, do you have pictures of the one you made?
Yeah I'm with what the others said. Creed is better used in larger games. In smaller games, every point counts, so you need to get the most out of them.
Heres another idea for a german model you could use. http://hsfeatures.com/features04/ima...thergcw_10.jpg
You could count it as a vanquisher in warhammer 40k. Although not the most competetive tank, vanquishers are good for fluff, so this might be an idea of a conversion you could do.
2500 points of Empire for ToXG: Points painted for month 4: 0 Points painted overall: 510
May someone tell me the warhammer 40k scale, so i can grab a tank porbly from online. I will have to browse the internate to find a site with lots of german vhicles up for sale and then ill decide on which tank ill grab, This is what i found so far
If anyone can get prices for these models ill be apreicative as i dont have time the next couple of days.
Well I believe that warhammer is close to 1:48 but do to the heroic scale people tend to use 1:35, and it looks better. Another option for the colossus would be this 1/35 15cm s.IG.33(Sf) auf Pz.Kpfw.I Ausf.B ~ Smart Kit
I agree with the others that Creed would be more at home in another list. The command squad set up seems wasteful over all, but that's already been said, so I'll move discreetly along.
For list overhauls I would recommend dropping a single hydra (three is too much for one squadron, especially considering how an immobilized can kill them) and the collosi. I think the Leman Russ wouldn't go against your theme, the tank has always reminded me of a Tiger, so it shouldn't be much of a stretch.
With the points you've saved you can consider dropping one chimera and then sticking said chimera-less veteran squad into a Valkyrie/Vendetta. This would give you a quick moving squad as well as an excellent vehicle that can be tooled for either anti-tank or anti-infantry with ease, and also fits your theme as the Germans did have paratroopers during WWII.
Hope this was helpful/thought provoking.
My enemy's enemy is a problem for later. In the meantime, they might be useful.
